Russian Invasion of Ukraine 2022

Just saw a release from Ukraine that Russia dropped chemical munitions on a Ukrainian position. It was noted that winds were pushing the chemicals back into Russian lines. LINK

"We recorded the fact of dropping a prohibited chemical munition with an aerosol-suffocating effect on one of the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The wind was [blowing] toward the enemy."

Well when you deliver spicy wind you have to deal with the outcome.

If true, oh boy, that means if Ukraine wants to (and it doesn't because most agents also turn the land into a toxic wasteland), they could respond in kind. Part of the unspoken word of all those treaties.

With what supplies?

Ukraine gave up all of their chemical weapons to russia as part of their deal for independence, and I don't see the west giving them said weapons because its an unneeded escalation. Gas masks and NBC gear yes but not chemical weapons.

All things considered, the West really cocked up when we made Ukraine agree to that deal.

The problem is that many people either missed or blinded themselves to the signs of ravachinism that developed during the 1990s and 20-aughts. The biggest fear -at the time- wasn't Russia itself but if the WMDs were to fall into the hands of terrorists.

Then by the time the ravachinism was obvious to even the most casual observer, it was far too late, and Russia turned the right wing in the West into their pawns by that point either directly (via intelligence operations) or by proxy.

Ukraine has a somewhat developed petrochem sector, so it can easily manufacture chemical weapons. It's called a 'poor man's nuke' for good reason.

The same equipment that can turn simple crude into things like fuel and plastic feedstock can be easily turned into producing chemical agents in general. The only problem is converting the equipment and the will to do so.

Update on the Merkava Tanks thing. Both Cyprus and Morocco will likely receiving Merkava 2/3 Main Battle Tanks. Cyprus will use it to replace the 41 T-80U/UK Main Battle Tanks it is delivering to Ukraine. Morocco will be using them to compensate the T-72B's that it sent to the Czech Republic for maintenance... that were then sent to Ukraine, allegedly without Moroccan permission. Israel has stated a condition of the transfer of Merkava's is that none of said Merkavas go to Ukraine.

Well, maybe they want to handle these old ones with extra care, just in case.

I find that difficult to believe if you consider how much ammo the Soviets used in WW2, for example.

I could well believe these shells are stamped made in 1939 but actually made much later because they either didn't bother to make a new stamp while the 1939 one was working fine OR shenanigans wrt production quotas and such.

This comes from the Russian puppet admin itself; looks like crossings downstream of the old dam have become a tactical reality for Russian planners.

Make sense in a way; Ukraine has long range air defense in Kherson, right up close to the front lines, and this means crossing the river can be done with greater ease, as Russian tactical aircraft will have a hard time safely getting close to the river.

I'm getting the distinct feeling from the actions of Russia, in regards to the ZNPP, show they fully intend to blow that power plant as soon as Ukraine gets control of it, or even just forces the Russian's out of the plant.

I think this will be the red line from which there will be no coming back; at that point, there can be no peace with Russia, only containment ala North Korea.
