Engel's air defense shotdown one of their own planes last night, due to paranoia about strikes.

Yet another textbook case of deconfliction failure. After all, who needs a functioning IFF system like the decadent westerners in NATO, when you can build superweapons that may or may not work but make an impression in the news reports.

Basically the only way for them to avoid friendly fire for sure is to deactivate either air force or air defense, so that only one of them can operate in any given area at the same time, and obviously both of these options are far from optimal in the middle of a large scale conflict.

The decadent westerns have IFF, but that not stopped the much vaunted Patriot system to kill some western fighters in the Gulf Wars...

And that was what, 20 years ago? Surely no one upgraded Patriot since then nor did any fixes about that problem, and it didn't happen again because US forces stopped flying planes and shooting down missiles since 2003, right?

It kinda shows how the technological and doctrinal capability to make this stuff work properly is not that old really, and Russia is catching up to NATO 2000's.

Building near a Train Station in Rostov on fire.

Though again to be fair once again, oopsies like this were pretty hilariously/sadly commonplace prior to any Special Military Operations as well.

In this case, specifying the location helps illustrate why the mentioned solution goes beyond "desperately inefficient" to "complete loss of function" in this case. If you activate your defenses, the base's purpose is negated. If you use the base, it is defenseless.

They fucked the Engels HQ on the morning of the next round of attacks on UKR infra.

The Ukrainians may have just wiped out a lot of experienced Bear crew during the briefing/prep.

Also, 9 golden rings for the CIS leadershiper, even if only Lukashenko wears it publicly; the LotR memes already getting around.

The Russian military and bureaucracy seems to want to pretend to be Orcs, and Putin wants to be Sauron.

Also, reminder the last 'peace talks' ended with the Russians attempting to poison Roman Abramovich.
