Perhaps this will clarify matters: there are people upset that the third party voters siphoned more from their preferred side than the other side, whereas they would be pleased to see the reverse. This is because their opinion on this particular matter is based on tactics/strategy rather than principle.

There's room for debate and arguments over how/if the general elections are rigged.

Democrat primaries? They're openly rigged and democrats hardly even deny it. Back when they shafted Bernie for Hillary I remember being on SB saying how rigged it was and that this wasn't democracy.

The comeback wasn't them arguing that it's not rigged. It was them defending the rigging with reasons like "it's their own internal procedure, they can do it how they want, they aren't beholden to the same election laws as the general elections."
