Russia-Ukraine War Politics Thread Mk. 2

Be specific please. I have no idea who/what you're addressing.
I don't understand how it is you seem to be confused about what it is I'm addressing. I'm probably about the most unsubtle and direct person you'll meet. I'm referring to the fact that Republicans are working with Democrats on allowing illegal immigration in exchange for aid to Ukraine, as in, they'll allow illegal immigration, they'll just "slow it down," as if that solves anything, even if it actually was adhered to, which I doubt.

No, I did not know that's what you were talking about. Too many pronouns are getting used for me to be able to keep up with what each individual is talking about.
In regards to this, I completely agree with you. It's a dumb eff'in decision.

Can someone explain to me why the Republicans are being so obstinate with blocking Ukraine’s aid money? I understand they want some compromises on the border but…now is not the time.

Playing politics with this will age horrifically. Same goes for that moron Orban.
Becouse they want Democrats to stop fucking USA.If they agree to bill,Ukraine would get money, but USA get more fucked.
You should blame Democrats here.

And,Orban is no moron,he care about Hungary and hungarian minority on Ukraine first, like anybody should.
We poles are morons - we gave half of our tanks to Ukraine, many other stuff, too - and get kicked in jewels by them as form of gratitude.

Why is 'now not the time' for securing our own borders?
Why not both?

I mean the GOP wanting the border to get handled is not a bad thing, but tying aid to Ukraine to it doesn't help anything except the Dems PR image vs the GOP.
Defense must start at home. Once it's established we actually have a State with Borders, I'm OK spending on Ukraine.

As for optics...that's pretty much what all Trump's supporters want too.
And how many of Trump's diehard's take Tucker Carlson's word as gospel, and don't look any further?

Because that explains a lot of the hate towards Ukraine aid and why people are believing so many lies about what is happening over there.

Trying to make it so Ukraine's aid is tied to addressing the US border issues is the GOP shooting itself in the foot, and giving Putin a great present.

I’ve come to the conclusion that political tribalism of any kind mixes getting lost in the theory of it all with a dangerous knee jerk. The MAGA crowd, and indeed much of the wider right, have made abject fools of themselves over this war, and now strangling aid to Ukraine is just the rotten cherry atop the shit cake.

By the by, if Ukraine loses as a result of things like this, the nu-right would have made itself unelectable for the next twenty years.

Yeah, the GOP trying to cut Ukraine aid is going to haunt the party for decades, regardless of the outcome of the conflict.

Because the GOP fuck-fuck games are directly costing Ukrainian lives, and the border issues aren't going to change much so long as a Dem controls the White House.

Parts of the Right decided to try to make the 'Russian Collusion Hoax' into a 'Russian Collusion Reality', simply because they don't want to admit support for Ukraine is widely popular in the US outside of the commies and Tard-Right, and that they have been buying Russian lies via Tucker Carlson repeatedly.

The number of people who actually care enough is negligible.

The GOP was OK with that. It was the Dems that tanked that option.
It was not the Dems who tied Ukraine aid to the border.

The GOP could address both issues separately, in a sane world.

But because of people like Tucker Carlson spouting anti-Ukraine/pro-Russia bullshit, the GOP felt comfortable trying to use Ukraine as leverage for a issue not tied to Ukraine at all.

No matter how the conflict resolves, the GOP's willingness to throw Ukraine under the bus for domestic issues is going to be a stain on the party for decades to come.

The Democrats willingness to throw American border security under the boss in order to support a foreign nation would be a stain on the party for decades to come, if it was anything except a massive stain on America in the first place.

And I say this as someone in favor of supporting Ukraine.

Literally just leftist talking points. Of course it'd be great for Rs to not tie it to border funding, that way Ukraine aid could get passed tomorrow while the border remained open, Dems continuing to laugh it off, until such a time as a republican became president.

I would rather them focus on more domestic issues of concerns.
Like trans ans LGBTQ stuff

I believe the US should support Ukraine, both for moral reasons, and our own best interests.

But securing our own border is absolutely a higher priority than this. If we can't protect our own border against migrants, what on earth are we doing spending money on another nation protecting theirs from an army?

Both the Republicans and the Democrats don't want to secure the border. During Trumps term as President he had both the House and the Senate. And the Republicans blocked him the whole time. The same with the Democrats. This stunt Congressional Republicans are doing is just that a stunt. They are doing this to trick stupid and gullible GOP voters into thinking they are listening to them just before elections start. And they are playing political games with peoples lives. So next year I will not vote for a single GOP candidate save Trump. I will vote 3rd party out of protest because of the blatant political grift.

The Republicans are basically a controlled opposition party anyway by this point.

File off the tags and half the time you couldn't tell if they (a candidate/politician) were Republican or Democrat in the first place.

And here are the two most damning things.
1: The GOP in Congress can easily craft an amendment to the current aid package to include all the funding needed to secure the border

2: They could choose to stay in session for the whole Christmas holiday instead of going on recess for 3 weeks. I mean if you believe it is a dire situation at the border would you not stay in session to fix the problem.

3: The dirty little secret they will never tell. A lot of them are invested in businesses that use and hire Illiegal Aliens themselves. They love that cheap labor. But love to lie about being against it.

Just like in Europe, but here at least we have some parties who could take power and are not controlled opposition.
Or....maybe they are? in germany right-wing parties was full of police agents, the same could be true in other countries.

Well, for me do not matter - in Poland we have german agents and fake patriots doing what german want anyway, and nobody else had chance to rule.
