I believe he is in the isolationism and appeasement side of the debate. People forget their own history.
In other news. Dear Gods! How can the Russians eat these!? I'd rather eat hákarl and fermented shrimp paste uncooked! The flavor would be better. This ration is just empty calories and the minimum nutrition
Not to get off topic, but I've seen the reactions to Hakarl ("rotten shark"), I mean, I guess you COULD survive on it, but...
Not familiar with fermented shrimp paste though, but the name in itself seems a bit foreboding.
That said, one assumes the Russians are getting issued these rations when there's reports some don't have food at all or have to forage or steal.
EDIT: Nice to see the Russians are still apparently using the same hardtack recipe for their biscuits that likely hasn't changed from WW2, or even before that, possibly the time of the Tsars. Also, one of several advantages with the US MRE's? Besides the packaging being sturdy and tough, it's also very flat, you can easily pack several in a pack for several days if needed. Also being flat and compact with vaccum packaging makes it lets susceptible to being crushed and damaged. Good luck trying to pack several of these bulky Russian ration kits in a pack. Also, with the bulky package of the Russian ration and the composition of the rations it's easy for them to be damaged in spite of the cardboard box. You don't want these piled under anything heavy on a pallet or in a vehicle.
