Russia-Ukraine War Political Discussion

Switzerland does exist
Switzerland would fold if enough pressure was applied, like they folded on their banks, which are the cornerstone of their economy. Snowden is a lot less important to them than their banks, so a lot less pressure would be needed. His only realistic options were Russia or China, any other country would either fold under State Department pressure or is insecure enough for him to be snatched and taken to USA.

Snowden is in Russia, which does mean he is likely to end up conscripted into the war in Ukraine.
Unlikely, he is a public face, they are conscripting common people.

/pol/ did it again.

Yeah, I'm sure nothing could have been delivered by submarine ahead of time along a path it was known US forces would be traveling for the exercises that were taking place.
Honestly, not sure if a sub would actually work here, the water's so shallow you could likely see it. Far better is just some people in a boat with scuba gear, and C4.

It's on biatches.

Not surprising; Russia isn't in a position to stop them anymore, and the Ukrainian government stands to gain much from membership. At least in the extremely short term, before everyone's economies finally collapses under the weight of their own bad decisions.

Honestly, with quality

We absolutely cannot let them in while they are still at war with Russia. After that, maybe, but before that is a hard no.

Why?
Russia already thinks they are at war wotj NATO.
I'm not in favor of letting them in NATO right now either.
At this point, there is no real reason not to let Ukraine in, given how closely tied to NATO it has become and that, as Zach says, Russia already considers this a war with NATO.

Maybe it's time to show Russia what a real war with NATO looks like, and show we aren't scared of Putin's bluster anymore.

If Putin breaks the nuclear taboo for a tac nuke to try to 'escalate to de-escalate', it'll just alienate Russia even more from it's few remaining friends and remove any lingering divisions in the groups opposed to Putin's madness.

Russia respects only force, and Zelensky has made clear there will be no further negotiations with Putin.

No, they don't, or they would have invaded the Baltic states already.

Letting them in obligates us to go to war with Russia immediately. Send our troops in to fight Russian troops. It's a horrible idea that ends with nukes. You got a bunker?
