Russia-Ukraine War Political Discussion

Yeah I’m more suspicious of the US being behind this.

Or Poland did it as a golden opportunity to screw over both Russia and Germany. (I’m hold half joking here)
It takes a country with spec ops divers... So Poland could do it, with these:
Could be Russia, but that would be a pointless effort for them - if they want to cut off the gas flow, they have more reversible ways on their end of the pipeline, and they can use them as a bargaining chip, whose very existence creates a temptation in Germany to be soft on Russia in the current crisis.

Could be UK or USA, for the abovementioned reason - to ensure that Germany rids itself of temptations to do that.
At least one Polish politician leans towards that theory:

Could have been one of the Nordic or Baltic countries, Sweden, Finland and Lithuania have navy divers for sure, dunno about the rest.
Basically any country that can get a navy diver unit into the Baltic and doesn't like Germany wavering on Russia deals could have done it.
And that's enough countries for plausible deniability to whoever did it.
I'll be blunt, I think Russia did this to ALL nations impede naval and civie traffic in the Baltic, in case a land blockade of Kaliningrad, because ships passing anywhere near this, and an expanding area around it, run the risk of gas build up in the bilge, and internal fires.

It also will destroy the fishery for a while, which was what as feeding many of the Nordic states. This could be revenge on Finland and Sweden for considering going into NATO, and for the Baltics supporting Ukraine.
The scale of this effect is waaay too small for that to be the goal.

I was saying it would, if it is not stopped.

It would take a while, but my impression is that the shutoff's are in Russian hands, and dumping natgas into the sea there on a continued basis would fuck over an expanding area.

Russia could decide not to shut it off, and show how much gas they have in a 'troll' fashion, particularly if they claim someone else did it.

It can't get bigger, unless for some strange reason Russians not only keep pumping gas into the line, but pump more. After all, gas goes up.

Well, I haven't heard any reports the gas has been completely shut off and the leak stopped/hole covered.

So as of now it is still ongoing, and no one on the pumping end seems to have stopped the flow yet.

Have you heard anything about the flow being cut off yet?

Well, kgbstan is only country in the world which could attack itself. They blow up 301 russians to have pretext to war with Czeczenya after all.
Problem is - it mean, that they are going attack NATO in this scenario. And,since they probably do not have hidden army,it mean a lot of missiles with H bomb.
Which mean death of Moscov,too.

So,unless they really have 200 underground cities on Ural capable of holding 1 million of people for 100 years,it is not their work.
But,as always with kgb, nothing is impossible except them being honest.

Honestly, this could also be a false flag by Russia to get the EU countries, UK and US to point fingers at each other because WHY would Russia sabotage their leverage on the EU?

They have a few but budget cuts have rotted their infrastructure and they've turned into flooded, fungus infested hellholes. Complete with unstable collapsing or collapsed tunnels. Broken gas lines and no electricity. The ones near the cities have been stripped of their wires and pipes by local salvagers.

Well,as long as Putin have one working for him and his friends,he still could go for that.He would sacrifice for soviet memory everything except himself and people need to keep him alive and comfy.

The loss of leverage is a high price for Russia to pay for something so minor. Though that wouldn't be the first time they reach out to take a bad deal.
Russia already cut off the sale of gas to hostile countries. The fact that the gas has been pouring out at maximum capacity when they have had a day to shut it off says a lot about Moscow's intentions.

Holy hells. It's not partial Mobilization item 7 is blocked out in Russia. They are telling Russians its 300000 men but Russians suspect that the number is higher because its hidden. The quota commissars are grabbing men regardless of age and health off the streets. If you look remotely close to 16 - 50 they arrest you and stuff you into the recruitment busses.

If nukes get involved, we're all screwed.

Russia also seems to have made a large purchase of iodine pills lately, and there are rumors of them distributing NBC gear and iodine pills to their troops near Kherson.

I've also seen talk elsewhere that Russia may attempt a...'grey zone' nuke blast at high-alt over Ukraine for the EMP effects, more than the blast damage, gambling that a blast with no fallout to fall on NATO and minimal blast damage to the ground might scare people off and 'level the playing field' without provoking a full MAD-exchange.

Russia's conventional military has been shown to be so pathetic, and the Ukrainians determined and skilled enough with the aid coming in, that a 'de-escalating/grey zone' nuclear response might be the only real option Putin and his people feel they have left to salvage the situation strategically and domestically.

Which sounds like a really bad idea, considering how incompetent the Russian military has proven themselves thus far. Imagine what would happen if they got the timing wrong.

Well this is going to cause problems in the Baltic for a bit; 10:1 Russia sabotaged the gas pipelines in order to fuck over Germany.

So where do I claim my money? At the very least, given what we know now, are you going to start rationally reviewing things?

Tell me what moral standard you are using to equate that, because i want to stay the hell away from it and use that as an argument to criticize it, and i'm sure many others want to do the same.

Both acts are wrong, simple as. Anybody cheering these terrorist acts in Russia on is as wrong as those who cheered on Hassan. If, however, you hold the former as acceptable, than so too as the latter.
