Except the very fact Macron is trying to pressure Zelensky to give concessions to Putin, so Putin can 'save face', shows Macron does not give a damn about Ukraine's future.
If Putin is able to take land and keep it in an half-ass, badly coordinated, badly executed invasion, he will not take it as a sign to stop, but as a sign that Macron is willing throw all of Ukraine to Russia if Putin needs to 'save face'. Then Putin will invade again as soon as his reserves and stockpiles are rebuilt.
If France wants to be surrender monkey's, that's on them.
Edit: I mean if it was me in Zelensky's position, dealing with Macron pulling this shit, I'd bluntly say I'll find another intermediary who won't try to undercut me. Or just tell Macron that he can tell Putin that every Russian that crosses into Ukraine has forfeited their lives, and the only way to get them back it to withdraw without conditions.

Macron doesn't understand Russian nature. If the Russians get territorial concessions after invading Ukraine they'll see it as a sign it's ok to try for more later ... again.
