Russian Invasion of Ukraine 2022

I'm not sure what you want the geriatric old man to do? Send our men to die in yet another foreign conflict? If you're going to send our men to die in an intervention for moralist reasons, then there are better places to send them, like stopping genocide in Yemen or fighting China. Besides, Europeans should handle their own conflicts.

Being annexed by Russia doesn't seem like it's very bad.

Not sure if you’re being sarcastic here, but I’m not calling for us troops in Ukraine, never did. Merely that Biden is a geriatric piece of trash who talks trash out of his mouth. That said...”Europeans should handle their own conflicts.” Yes, because that’s always worked well before...right before it inevitably starts pulling in other parts of the world including the US.

As for being annexed by Russia not being all that bad...I guess that’s why the Ukrainians are so eager to get out and greet them with ATGMs and MANPADS.

I just went through twenty four pages of this thread and six pages (one quarter of it) was derailed discussion. You all know who you are... (probably because I made sure you got a notification for EVERY post).

Discussions tend to drift... but try and exercise some self control. I'll try and go through this thread every so often but I created a Garbage Thread for the derailments. I was originally going to go through the thread and make individual topics... but there were like six different derails going on and so I decided Garbage Day gets one megathread.

This thread is meant to discuss the 2022 Russian Invasion of Ukraine so try and keep focused on that subject. Thank you.

If things keep getting out of hand, I'll start randomly hitting people like the Shelling in the Donbass.

Here's your new thread. It too gets a special Title named after a special someone.

Husky Karen's DonbAss Derailed Discussion Thread (Topics Include History, Traps, Shotguns, and much much more)

Analysis & prediction on Ukraine from 6 years ago:
“The West is leading Ukraine down the primrose path & the end result is Ukraine is going to get wrecked.”
-John J. Mearsheimer, R. Wendell Harrison Distinguished Service Professor of Political Science at the U. of Chicago
Anyway, American Conservative has unearthed the Mearsheimer lecture about the west and Ukraine that I have been recommending for a while now.

Its intimidating to watch but what gets me is how normal everything else is.
There's a vid out there of a Russian armoured column driving through a city and some absolute legend overtakes them in a clapped out van because they were invading too slowly. Just amazing

Do not believe a word from this site.

Heavy pro-Ukrainian bias.

He lists Ukrainian tank losses as a single T-64, when there was ample footage of a whole column of 8+ T-64s.

Also claims to only accept visual proof as evidence.

Ukrainians getting their PysOps going, it seems.
Eh, Oryx is usually pretty dependable for OSINT.

It could just be that Ukraine is actually making Russia bleed more than expected, not 'pro-Ukraine' bias.

Also since it is coming as footage is released and the footage we have seen is from the Ukrainians mostly some things might be missing since I doubt Russians are letting them film near them during the fighting.

More unverified Twitterings!

Looks like there's no evidence as of yet that the Russians used any of their fancy new Hypersonic Missiles:

Also pictures reportedly of Russian SSO service members with vans and Toyota Hiluxes taken in Belarus.

And some analysis from Rob Lee, whose usually pretty good on this sort of stuff.

Looks like Ukrainian Spetsnaz was assisting in the retaking of Gostomel Airfield from the Russian VDV forces.

I would be shocked if they did, they are probably keeping those missiles in reserve just in case the west intervenes.

Not only that, but didn't Putin claim that over 30% of Ukrainians will accept the Russian military with flowers, and there would be mass defections to the Russian side by the Ukrainian military, because the """"fascist government"""" of Ukraine (talk about projection) doesn't represent the supposedly extremely pro-Russian population? What happened to that?
Ukraine became united
