This wouldn’t be the first time a completely hacked off Russian army has come home to overthrow a government. They’ve been sent to die out there, so I wouldn’t blame them.

And so far only Wagner has said Bakhmut has been taken

The Ukrainians pretty much only hold the SW corner of the town near the Mig-17 monument now, and that's simply because the Russian's have taken to just leveling their way through the town with artillery.

The counter-attacks on the flanks seem to have allowed forces in Bahkmut to withdraw under better conditions to prepared defenses outside town, and made it so all Russia gets out of Bahkmut is a place to be fish in a shooting barrel.

Zelensky is saying plainly and directly there is no point to negotiating with Putin, because Putin cannot be trusted to negotiate in good faith.

I think vast majority of Ukraine would prefer even that as opposed to the alternative proposed by Russia.
