wow I expected this stuff to start happening 3 years into the war, if it dragged on and became a quagmire. Not this soon.

Well it was retarded of US Army to allow him to join, but a completely different scenario, this guy actually volunteered to join after all. By common sense, you wouldn't want a Hitler fanboy when fighting against the Axis in WW2, and it would be mighty suspicious if one volunteered. You wouldn't want a commie when fighting against commies in the Korea war. So why the hell did they take an islamist who wasn't even hiding it when fighting a global war against islamists? Of course, political correctness.

What?
That is had happend to a US Soldier at one point?

Wanna know the diffrence?
US arnt forcefully drafting people to die instead of win

Which is to ignore the person who committed this terrorist act wasn't being drafted himself; he killed an unarmed man and fired upon his fellow "slaves", as the post I was respond to. Cheering on this act is like the people who cheered on Hassan for avenging the U.S. invasion of Iraq or whatever; there's no moral distinction between you and them.

Whatever advanced technology Russia and China developed in the decades since the end of the Cold War they just lost. Russia had untrained and unwilling conscripts driving high tech equipment. The jammers for example along with their best encryption transceivers were abandoned. The Ukrainians captured these high tech equipment and sent it directly to NATO for weapons and supplies. By December or February at the latest we'll have counters ready for testing. It also helps NATO in that Ukrainians are willingly field testing all the new Next Generation equipment the USA and its allies are developing. I know from social media posts such as on Telegram and other Eastern European platform equivalents of Ukrainian soldiers for example that several units have been equipped with the new XM-5 assault rifle and NGSW to test in real combat conditions against the enemies they were being developed to face. Russia and China. Although it's turning out that all that Ratnik and NG Weapons development Russia boasted of were a Maskirovka and only Spetsnaz and other SOF forces were equipped with the expensive Next Gen weapons. It's insane all the live streaming both sides are doing. You can actually see in real time how effective all these new systems are against Modern and Soviet Era Russian weapons and equipment.

Whether China will turn out to be the same is yet to be determined.

That XM-5 and it's 6.8mm ammo is damned heavy compared to an M-4. For an effective range of engagement of 800 to 1000 meters you get a heavier rifle and 78 less rounds in a soldier's full kit. I don't know about you but I've seen all the published statistics on rounds fired by the US military against confirmed hits. I'm not sure the average soldier have the skills to use the new weapons to their fullest. Even the most highly trained recruits have a tendency to Suppress or Spray and Pray in combat.

He wasn't drafted. And the US's causes in Iraq and Afghanistan were more just than what Russia is currently doing in Ukraine. Heck, after the Taliban overthrew the Afghan government last year, hundreds of thousands of Afghans have been keen to get out of Afghanistan. Voting with their feet, if you will.

TBF, though, the Russian who engaged in terrorism had a chance of being drafted; Hassan didn't, since the US didn't actually have a draft then and didn't plan to introduce one.

Lookup the trouble in Dagestan. The Mobilization announcement was the last straw. 90 year old grandmothers, grandfathers, women taking to the streets to attack Russian police rounding up their remaining grandchildren for military service. There are almost no military aged men remaining except for Russian police and qouta officers enforcing conscription on the minorities first. Putin is avoiding conscription of actual Russians in the core cities as long as possible to avoid larger riots.

It's gotten so bad a multitude of videos have gotten past Internal Security and are being shown in EU news.

Tell me what moral standard you are using to equate that, because i want to stay the hell away from it and use that as an argument to criticize it, and i'm sure many others want to do the same.

I think his argument is "POOR COMMANDANT OF THE DRAFT OFFICE! RUSSIANS SHOULD MOBALIZE WITHOUT FIGHT!".
And "A terrorist in the US killed people and it is the same thing!"

Dear friend,USA do not send consprict to fight anymore. That is moral distinction - postsoviets are sending thier slaves as cannonfodder, which in USA never happened.
If you do not see difference between soviets and USA,even ruled by democrats,then...why not go to kgbstan and join their glorious army?

P.S could you deliver some funny postsoviet source about evil spirit fighting for ukrainians?

Soviet standarts.Army of raping slaves is liberating their raped victims, when bad USA is beating negroes.

Well this is going to cause problems in the Baltic for a bit; 10:1 Russia sabotaged the gas pipelines in order to fuck over Germany.

It also creates a massive ecological problem in the Baltic, and frankly that amount of gas leaking continuously into the same area can create...explosion risks and dissolved gas hazards in the water.

This is just one theory, another assumed that the Russians tried to sabotage Baltic Pipe but got it wrong.
Still another that the Americans did it.

But there's a joke in Poland that we did it with our new toys, but because it's so improbable no one can believe it.

On the other hand, why would the Russians sabotage the hard-built NS and NS2? After all, they are de facto depriving themselves of this bargaining chip. The Germans are also getting an earful.
And to make matters worse for Germany and Russia, it makes our gas port and Baltic Pipe worth much more, not to mention Yamal.

All in all, I would least suspect the Russians of this, they would rather simulate damage somewhere rather than seriously make a hole in the gas pipeline.
It's possible that they would even try to launch a hacking attack on the gas pipeline's software, but that still doesn't make sense. It would have been better to hit BP or attack drilling rigs in Norway.

It must be someone else.

I could buy the Russians meant to hit the Baltic pipeline and accidentally hit the NS1/2; they are in fairly close proximity in that area, and 'Russian military (in)competence' is it's own meme now on par with the memes about the Norks.

Or Poland did it as a golden opportunity to screw over both Russia and Germany. (I’m hold half joking here)
I don't know if it's seriously that much of a joke. Might as well be us for real, but with US approval.

Especially since as I saw the news on Twitter yesterday shortly after the incident, almost all services in the Baltic were notified with one exception.

Polish.

And Borholm is not that far from Poland. And what the released gas will do will also affect us in a strong way.

If the gas is not cut off and keeps going through that hole...lots of bad things can happen to the ecosystem and the maritime situation in the Baltic.

This is a disaster on par with Deepwater Horizon if it happened by accident...if it wasn't an accident, whoever is responsible for it has committed an ongoing crime against humanity.

The gas needs to stop flowing through it till it is patched, at minimum.

I'll be blunt, I think Russia did this to ALL nations impede naval and civie traffic in the Baltic, in case a land blockade of Kaliningrad, because ships passing anywhere near this, and an expanding area around it, run the risk of gas build up in the bilge, and internal fires.

It also will destroy the fishery for a while, which was what as feeding many of the Nordic states. This could be revenge on Finland and Sweden for considering going into NATO, and for the Baltics supporting Ukraine.
