At this point all they can really do is just reannex Galicia, which seems to be the play that will be made once the Donbass front collapses.

Not since 1945. I mean Poland has been begging Germany to spend more on their military for 10 years. Poland's biggest problem in the 20th century has been Poland's belligerence with their neighbors.
I will be curious who gets control in the resulting power struggle.
Germany attacked Poland, and genocided poles,not otherwise.And germans still refuse to pay for their crimes.
And for every german from Otton 3 times,we were belligerant when we want live free on our own land.
When for every good german it is obvious,that germans have rights to anything we have.

Later polish army come and beaten ukrainian so-called army.
2.Soviets attacked polish city Wilno,starting war.We stop war to let them finish Denikin,and attacked Kiev to create state for ukrainians.Ukrainians do not wanted fight for their state,so we must retreat.
When soviets was attacking Warsaw,they wanted take rest of Europe after that.
3.Lithuania was german invention,and they help soviets when they attacked us,so soviets gave them our territory including polish city Wilno.We retake that.
4.In Silesia german faked elections and beat poles - so we made 3 uprisings,partially winning.
And,it is obvious that germans,lithuanians ,soviets and czech who attacked us in 1919 hated Poland.They all either stolen our land,or wanted do that.
British - they supported germans from 1918 in their games,so they wanted us destroyed.

Wishful thinking? I mean, I don't know how this is all going to end; but I do know a lot of people in the west think Putin getting removed from power will fix everything. Instead of, you know, just making things worse; which is far more likely.

I think I've asked this question before, but would you care to lay a prediction to when that collapse is going to actually happen?
Or even 'just' a collapse on the Donbass front?
Or are you just trying to reassure yourself of something that, at this point, is transparently untrue?

The Donbas != all of Ukraine. Even assuming that the Donbass Front actually collapses, which I'm not convinced of at this specific point in time, Ukraine still has plenty of other cities. There are Kiev, Kharkiv, Odessa, Mykolayiv, Zaporizhia, and Pavlohrad, after all.
And Poland doesn't actually want Galicia with all of its Banderists:

The Polish government will as a buffer zone when Ukraine starts falling apart.
Given that the fortifications and best troops of the Ukrainian army as all there, once it falls there is nothing stopping the Russians from exploiting to the Dnieper and beyond. As the Ukrainians have said themselves they are already outnumbered and outgunned in the Donbass and they have to guard the entire border with Russia and Belarus. Territorial units as well as some regular army ones sent into the Donbass are already mutinying and posting videos explaining why the survivors of those units are refusing to fight any further. Morale is rock bottom and only going to get worse if the Donbass falls along with 10-20k troops falling into a pocket. As it is if they don't retreat out of the Severodonetsk pocket now before it fully closes (the Soledar Highway has already been cut as of today) they will lose probably around 15,000 men. As it is they just have a 'golden bridge' that is shutting (they evacuated Lyman today) and will probably lose at least 5,000 men no matter what, but even if they do extract about 10,000 they will lose all their heavy equipment in the process.
