The head of Wagner PMC is now on the FBI's most wanted list with a warrant sent to Interpol and all US extradition treaty signatories and allies. Active 10 million USD bounty since the 2016 election.

Lol. Last time Wagner fought a squad of 16 of US special forces soldiers over a Kurdish oil rig in Southern Syria. Wagner lost 500 KIA. Against three wounded SoF and Kurdish militia. 😆

In some ways, the crushing Russian incompetence really should have been seen coming by more of us.

Yes. So did the Russians. But they were incompetent and got annihilated by counter battery fire and USAF CAG was better at their jobs.
Uh...
The US vs Wagner literally had damnnnear the whole might of the US Military on call. B52s, C130s, M777, HIMARS, F15s, F22s, Apache, and a Reaper.
Wagner never met the special forces on a large enough combat scale

The Russian mercs had more man power, and maybe some artillery. But the Americans actually had air support. It's not really a thing of whose "tougher" technology beats everything, the past 300 years showed us this. Though US special forces would beat Wagner easily even if there was tech parity, after all Wagner are just mercenaries like our black water/Xe. Though with this war the Russian's millitary credibility was shot to hell. We used to think that Spetznaz was equivalent to our special forces, now I think they'd be lucky to equal regular infantry units.
The question is why they decided to attack.
I heard that they just randomly attacked the US base and the Americans actually tried negotiating with them first over the radio, and when that did not work, then the air force blew them up. The Russian government also disavowed them.

To be fair, the US military hasn’t exactly been given its best showing given it’s recent failures and politicalization.
Bingo. US military leadership has a few weaknesses, but these is located to several, politically driven areas. It's not a valid conclusion to take out of this that it has to be equally weak at all areas.
This particular situation in no way targeted any of the vulnerable political areas and the results speak for themselves.

Lol. It highlights how arrogant and stupid they are to attack in range of US firepower and think they have the gear and firepower to match the global Hegemon.

They crossed onto the peninsula at the mouth of Dnipro. And have secured three of the smaller settlements. Although they are probably about to encounter the Russians
For which the Russians are likely thinking happy thoughts.

Though, that axis of advance may mean they are able to marshal significant weight of metal and maybe even conduct another Thunder Run alontg the Dnipro and farther south. - That'd be interesting.

I'm wondering where the heck the highly publicized Russian fortified lines and naval warships they were parading two days ago are. They were blustering the Ukrainians would never be able to cross the Dnipro and attack Crimea.

"Here and No Further!" The Butcher declared. 😆

Well. . . The Ukrainians just passed Further. Where are the "Stout Sons of the Motherland" who were supposedly going to "Slaughter NATO and their Nazi puppets(Ukraine)!"

Unless you have an overwhelming technical or numerical superiority, putting warships into enclosed waters is a bad idea. Some idiot journo or internet admiral most probably thought it a good idea.

It more than a stone's throw from the Dnepr liman (estuary) to the Perekop (istmuth) or Sivash (shallow wetlands) which separate Crimea from the "mainland", hence it is a certain jump from "crossing the Dnepr" to "invading Crimea".
