Media/Journalism Cringe Megathread - Hot off the Presses

Then like Germany all the Russian ethnic minorities will likely be evicted because no one wants russian minorities to be used as a pretext for invasion again.

Just like the germans before them.
This might unironically be the only move the Baltics could make that would ensure the Russian-minority excuse cannot be used on them.

It's not like there aren't records of who was moved into the country by the USSR's leadership, and this would amount to a long overdue illegal immigration matter finally be recitified.

Nice appeal to authority there. Forgive me for being skeptical.

No one is ever properly prepared to fight the war they just entered.
Name a time in recent history the US military has been on the backfoot and lost battles or wars without politics causing us to lose

How recent you want to get, because Somalia wasn't that long ago.

Though I guess that could count as politics causing us to lose, because we pulled out the Abram's platoon we had had in country for a while (which the Somali warlord and gangs were actually scared of more than are helo's), and Clinton denied the mission AC-130 topcover.

I guarantee if that mission had been given AC-130 topcover and an Abram's escort, it would have been far less of a shit show.

literally every war we have fought in modern times has had us hamstringing our military. why do you think politicians would pull their heads out their asses for this hypothetical war? our navy is more concerned with diversity training than combat readiness. our top generals more concerned with understanding white rage than how the top Chinese and Russian leaders think. our diplomatic policies seem designed to drive other countries to strengthen a Chinese power block. when we stumble into whatever conflict lies ahead it is gonna be done poorly and there will be lessons learned at the cost of soldiers lives.

Why do you think the US has the besy developed NCO Corps?
That is how the US wins. We take appropriate action in tje absence of orders
At the small scale that works but a Sergeant Major still has to salute a 2nd Lieutenant who doesn't know his ass from his elbow.

A SGM orders around the 2nd LT...just because he salutes the 2LT doesn't mean he gets ordered around by him.
And one doesn't salute in the field.
In any war Lietenants who don't listen to their NCO's have a habit of getting fragged.
Yep.
NCOs know thier jobs better then the officers

The US couldn't beat a bunch of goat herders with rusty AKs in 20 years.

A war with China or Russia will be UGLY.

And yes, " the politics," caused problems. The same politics will cause the same problems.

The US has a very expensive, and mostly useless military.

*points towards how the US beat the Taliban so bad they had to go into a nuclear armed country to train and regain support. Points to Iraq were the US were basically let in and still faced and defeated every enemy they encountered*
Totally lost to some goat herders.....
In a sense butterbars are the bearers of bad news and fragging one is just shooting the messenger who has to go with you.
Not what he means.
A 2LT doesn't boss around a SGM.
