Dude, let me burst your bubble a bit here, because you're making a number of assumptions here. First off, the ones who are really asking for loan forgiveness are the activist types who got useless majors that will only get them work if companies create positions for them, which is to say something akin to a political officer. While a disturbingly large number of companies have done just that, there are a lot more graduates than there are these high-paying jobs. So most of these people end up working retail, which only feeds into their hatred of capitalism, not only because of the tiny wages they earn while the company really makes bank, but because of the tendency of people to treat retail workers like trash. I know because I worked retail for an awful long time. My degree? Oh, I have two actually - a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering and a master of engineering in mechanical engineering. Actually I worked retail to pay the bills while earning that second one, but I found myself there for a full year after finally earning it because no one wants to hire me, apparently, and I know from some of my other friends for school who also have STEM degrees, that they have also found difficulty finding jobs. There are all kinds of jobs out there for someone like me, but it seems like all of them expect someone who has a years of experience or some super-genius who was at the top of their class who can just jump right in with no additional training from the company. And I'm not just talking big companies here, I'm talking tiny local ones even. So for now, I managed to get out of retail and get into industrial work, by getting a job as a CNC operator, which amounts to pushing a button and getting widgets. I'm not complaining or anything, as it's an okay job that pays fairly well, but all I would have needed to get it was an HS diploma. This looks like it might end up being my career, and if it is, I sure wasted an awful lot of time and money.
