Russian Invasion of Ukraine 2022

More arms deliveries, this time consisting of "older" kit:

Again, morbidly fascinating to watch warfare evolve in real time. Lots of cutting-edge stuff making their debut here, but no one said dated weapons can't be put to new use.

Multiple Russian Missiles Struck the Northern city of Chernihiv, killing at least seven people (including a six year old girl) and injuring over a hundred including fifteen children. The target was reportedly a drone exhibition being hosted at a local theater by drone manufacturers. Those inside of the building were apparently able to take cover and suffered few casualties with most of the dead and wounded being bystanders located outside of the theater as well as at a square and college campus which were also struck.

Fire broke out at the Soltsy Airfield in the Novgorod Oblast where Tu-22 Bombers were stationed. Some report that Ukrainian drones were responsible but no confirmation yet. Russian sources reportedly state that some aircraft were damaged.

Ukrainian leadership recently had discussions with Sweden about ongoing support. Along with political discussions, there was discussion on the joint production of CV-90's in Ukraine, on training more Ukrainians on the Archer Self Propelled Guns and ongoing training and discussion regarding Gripens being sent to Ukraine.

First documented loss of the Lithuanian Panzermorser M113 Self Propelled 120mm Mortar. These vehicles have been documented as been in use by Ukraine since at least this Spring.

Not an expert but that looks more than a little damaged.

The culprit was allegedly a quadcopter UAV.

Ukraine will reportedly receive over sixty F-16's in the future, sourced from the Netherlands and Denmark.

Another Russian 240mm Tyulpan Self Propelled Mortar Destroyed, this time somewhere in the Luhansk Oblast in the Northeast of the Country.

Along the same front, Russian artillery shelled the Ukrainian city of Kupyansk, striking a school among other targets though no civilian casualties reported.

Fuminori Tsuchiko is a seventy five year old Japanese citizen who moved to Ukraine almost a year ago and working with locals in Kharkiv, has been providing hundreds of free meals daily through a free cafeteria.

Some general estimates have reported about 500,000 casualties in Ukraine so far, with Russia allegedly suffering 120,000 military personnel killed and 170-180,000 wounded, while Ukraine has suffered 70,000 civilians and military personnel killed and 100-120,000 wounded.

Love how Russian personnel on the ground are uploading close up pictures of the scratch n' dent bomber to the internet confirming that, yes, the Ukrainian attack was successful. I'm sure the Kremlin will just shrug their shoulders at the leak.

Russian sources report that most of Robotyne has fallen to Ukraine, though fighting reportedly continues in the Southern approaches.

First documented loss of a US Supplied M1132 ESV Armored Vehicle. It is a combat engineering variant of the Stryker Armored Fighting Vehicle with a primary duty of mine detection and clearance as well as the removal or clearance of other obstacles. Loss occurred near Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast in Southern Ukraine.

Reports of an attempted drone strike on yet another Russian Airbase in the Kaluga Oblast southwest of Moscow. Russian media reported a quadcopter drone was shot down near the airbase there. It's the home of the 52nd Guards Heavy Bomber Regiment which operates TU-22 Bombers.

Also first documented loss of a particular UAV in Ukrainian service, the Czech built Primoco One 150 UAV. Brought down and captured by Russian forces in the Kherson region. These were primarily used for observation by civilian and law enforcement as well as military export.

Russian Soldier Posing with Iranian 122mm Artillery Shells, reportedly manufactured this year.

During a pitch to recruit workers from Tolyatti, located south of Tatarstan on the Volga River, a military recruiter promised three months training and that they wouldn't be sent to the trenches and as further enticement, since they are 10-15% below recruitment goals, if they don't get enough recruits there'll be a second round of mobilizations there anyways.

Ukrainian Mechanized Troops Using Bradley Fighting Vehicles to help evacuate civilians from recently liberated Robotyne.

Russia seems to be losing alot of these 240mm Tyulpan Self Propelled Mortars and it used to be rare and considered a notable loss. There weren't many in active service (though plenty supposedly in storage). This one was lost near Bakhmut to a drone, as opposed to the one lost near Kreminna to the North yesterday due to Ukrainian counter-battery fire.

Denmark to start training eight F-16 pilots and sixty five ground personnel.

Huge explosion for a single M67 Frag Grenade.

Zelensky continues his tour of Europe, getting some pledges from the Greek government including a new miltiary aid package as well as help in training Ukrainian Forces in operating the F-16's.

Besides the Dismissal of Prigozhin, other things happened as well.

S-400 Complex struck by Ukrainian missiles yesterday in Crimea might've been a significant target.

Furthermore Ukrainian special forces reportedly conducted a landing in the same area early this morning. Both sides claim they inflicted disproportionate casualties with almost no losses on their own side.

Ukrainian offensive actions being reported North and South of Bakhmut as well as in the South in general.

Further Advances reportedly Being made in the Robotnye Area towards Russians second line of defense.

Ukrainian artillery striking at Russian formations on the move South of Robotnye.

Russian Mi-8 Helicopter defected to Ukraine successfully after weeks of planning with the Ukrainian GUR.

What is supposed to be happening to me?

I do confess to being outraged watching NATO 'advisors' force the Ukrainians to suffer thousands of dead to take a few tiny villages in the grey zone.

The first actual part of the surovikin line is a dozen Km south of Robotyne.

Then there are several more lines behind that..dragons teeth, trenchlines, minefields and pillboxes. It took Ukraine this long to take its tiny scraps in the areas with the least heavy defenses using a kind of slow motion human wave assault. Im not sure how they will deal with the first part of the surovikin line once they reach it.
I don't think we have much clue what Ukraine's and Russia's actual casualty counts are. Honestly with the pace and news / videos released I have serious doubts both combined top 50k wounded and killed across the entire 10 week+ counteroffensive.

When the biggest news for an entire day from Ukraine Report are some dozens or so Ukrainian commandoes making a raid against some sleepy 69th line troops there's not much to say elsewhere.

Rare documented loss of a French CAESAR 155mm Self Propelled Gun. This one was also lost to a Lancet Loitering Munition.

Czech Republic is sending Ukraine at least two batteries of Cold War era 2K12Kub/SA-6 Air Defense Systems along with a "relatively large number of missiles." The Czech military will be replacing their old systems with new Israeli made SPYDER Air Defense Systems.

Ukrainian Metallurgical Plants are Making Iron Replica Decoys of Ukrainian military equipment.

Russia moving forces of what equates to a rapid reserve force to fortify and area.
Could potentially be a sign they are not confident in the defenses there. The 76th is considered to be one of the best units RU has.

The experience from some UA fighters who broke down what it was like in the southern offensive

And propaganda about Chechens being able to have free reign over the Russian soldiers wives while they are at war
