Or we could go on a silver standard.
I recall at least 3 different times where the feds shut down a mint and stole all their precious metals claiming that "people might be confused and think this gold coin worth 10,000$ is a crappy worthless fiat american dollar. therefore it is attempted counterfeiting"

The federal government has done a lot of fucked up things, but the fact is precious metals have a long history of being a workable currency.

as a bit of a Rorschach test test I am posting a 1 hour video that claims to be a in depth break down of Putin's Russia's core operating principal of how they think Geo politics works
if anyone wishes to engage honestly with the video I will be very surprised

Already watched this video yesterday, definitely an eye opener about what sort of psychology runs through Putin's terminally ill mind.

Actually I would recommend this vid to pretty much everyone here; the insights it provides about the mindset of Putin and Russia's leadership is top-notch.

You scrubbed that of Metadata right? We don't want to hear you've died of an "accident," radiation poisoning or Novachik.

I don't want the USA to be involved in Ukraine when we so badly need to get our own house in order. In fact, I'd like it if the USA dialed back several notches on playing 'World shadow Empire' with our over-bloated military when our country is rotting out from under us in both figurative and literal senses. And, if Putin is as 'irrational' as people like to say, I don't want the risk of a nuclear war occurring.
We cannot let nuclear powers annex territory and hide behind their nukes to get away with it, because the results would be catastrophic for everyone. Or what, do we just let South Korea get annexed by North Korea tomorrow if the latter waves its nukes around?

Like, we didn't struggle against Hitler or the Communists because of the Holocaust or gulags. We fought because if Eurasia unites under various alliances, even the US can't do anything to stand up to such a power. Just as Britain fought again and again to prevent a united Europe, the US cannot allow a united Eurasia. That means standing against revanchist powers in Eurasia, of which Russia is the most immediate threat. It's that simple.

There are reasons we don't want to go all out, especially because there is the fact that Russia is not the biggest threat and we need to make sure we don't exhaust ourselves and leave Taiwan open. But we haven't gone even close to all out.

now now I'm much more likely to fall out of my basement window, Novachick as if I rate the good stuf
Just be careful. There's been a plethora of journalists and critics of Putin falling out of open windows or tripping off the roof in the last three years.

More on track. I knew Putin was a Fascist the Heretic angle is new. Another reason to detest the man. Ivan Ilyin is a name I hoped had been consigned to be forgotten by history. His popularity with the ruling class in Russia is both unsurprising and deeply disturbing.

North Korea is the least of concern here due to its conventional weakness. China would realize it's situation with Taiwan as a close mirror politically, Russia certainly doesn't see its ambitions in Europe ending on Ukraine in long term, and Iran might well take it as a message that if it does go for nukes it's going to be free to finally build its coveted Shia empire out of all lands between Turkey, Israel and Pakistan with no expectation of any western intervention.
Even ignoring the unlikely scenario of grand forcefully united empires being remotely functional enough economically to threaten USA, 2 of these potentially escalating conflicts threaten world markets of 2 of perhaps most strategically important goods on the planet in 21st century - fossil fuels and computer chips.

america hasn't gone all out since WW2, in fact we have greatly hobbled ourselves into defeat multiple times.

Something important to think about:

This is a forced explanation. Completely ignoring differences such as Georgia being closer to Turkey than to the EU geographically, by that standard friggin Egypt is closer, and being less than tenth the size by population than Ukraine.
Scale and location matter for geopolitics, hope there is no need to explain that.
Secondly, the West did bother with 2008 and 2014 Russian expansions, though less so than now (sanctions did happen, insufficient, but still). While the political class of the West was slow and lazy in responding to small aggressive moves by Russia in the past, in hindsight a bad idea as many say, emboldening it to make bigger ones, that's no reason why big ones should be treated equally.
