"Woke" Franchises

Zyobot

Just a time-traveling robot stranded on Earth.
Now, I’m no expert on British folklore or what makes for “good” cinema in general. But in addition to all the needless race-swapping, the eye-popping action scenes and special effects seem a bit… redundant for a Disney movie, if you ask me?

Yes, I know the latter two were part and parcel for Pirates of the Caribbean and the like. However, that was an original franchise where pretty much all elements of the setting were — while not wholly original, such as in the case of Davy Jones and whatnot — still weren’t meant to be “callbacks” to older stuff and wasn’t an obvious Trojan Horse for political or social activism. Peter Pan, on the other hand, kind of is, so… 🧐

So...

The trailer for Disney's new Peter Pan adaption has dropped.

It's as bad as you'd think.

Fuck me I'm pissed off over this. Peter Pan was a childhood story of preference for me when I was a little lad.

Didn't they just release a live action Peter Pan remake like a year or two ago that bombed? It had a Black Peter Pan I think and focused on Wendy or something lol. I remember seeing a trailer and thinking initially "Oh this seems original."

Then it suddenly wasn't.

EDIT:

Er mah Gerd... It came out in 2020.

Oh well, throw more money into the money pit.

Ah, but the problem was obviously that that version didn't have an old unattractive Wendy, and far too few minorities and trans kids (girls being part of the lost boys, pretty clear reference in current year).

Excessive gender bending is why I hate the Nasuverse, The writing is probably better because it comes from waifu bait rather than some sanctimonious virtue signaling bullshit.

The only thing I like about the Nasu is the art. I especially hate characters like Shirou, one dimensional except with a plot convenient reason to be.

I personally prefer the art of MegaTen and Persona, TBH. The themes of said games also tend to be better thought-out and written too.

Or for that matter, Catherine. Best dating sim ever

Of course Tinkerbell would be Black 😂
I don't have problem with black Tinkerbell per se, she has no themes that are race related so she could be black, white, or even purple-skinned and still work.

Weird choice though, when much of Tinkerbell's characterization is "Homicidal rage machine." It will be a bit of a problem if they decide Tinkerbell can no longer be vindictive, angry, murderous, and easily tricked because of her emotional imbalances.

Then again pretty few modern Pan adaptions remember that Peter was incredibly cruel himself and that was a major theme of the stories, so blegh.

The D&D movie is going to be woke anti-male trash.

Notice they keep saying "we aren't doing this to be woke, we just really like emasculating men".

Misandry on proud display. Imagine the screeching from feminist if this were reversed.
After reiterating that the reasons did not pertain to "woke" thinking, the pair explained that they wrote the men that way because they find it "funny and fresh," pointing to Rachel McAdams and Jason Bateman's character Date Night, which Daley and Goldstein also wrote.

Yeee.... Fun and fresh. It's not at all like the comedies mocking all the sterotypes have been doing for decades. Not at all, it was the screenwriters of this film who first did it!
Once more they provide proof on the stereotype that women have no sense of humor.

I happen to know some women with a sense of humor. I guarantee you that you would laugh at them yourself.

It's just that these "screenwriters" are simply detached from reality. Or most simply dull and having no cultural memory to remember that such a thing existed.

Or they are simply lying through their teeth.

Any suggestions for good female comedians?

Cause Amy Schumer is apparently the gold standard so my faith is low 😂

Weebs only, aka vtubers. That filters out all who want to exploit affirmative action, a "platform" to shill feminism or other crap for clout. Conversely those who do want that will absolutely head for mainstream venues and media because the other option comes with being semi-anonymous at least, nevermind having a corp tell them to do comedy not talk politics (most do), creating a filter effect.

And even if they do talk a bit of politics they can actually make comedy out of it rather than shilling, for example:
