and that just says all sorts of things about why I don't trust this case at all.
It is OK. the media and people who physically go there can take notes and tell you about how the court case is going. totally not going to present everything in a twisted way to fit their narrative. nope. we all know the media can be trusted to give fair honest and balanced reporting on this case about an evil bad orange man they have been doing everything they can to slander since at least 2015.

It is ongoing. it is just in NYC so the judge decided he doesn't need a jury and no cameras and recording devices are allowed in the court.
The no jury part and no cameras part aren't something the Judge just randomly decided to impose.

Trumps lawyers did not ask for a jury, which is something you have to do when it's a civil case in NY because civil cases in NY are, by default, bench trials.

The no cameras part? That's pretty much every courtroom in the US. That the proceedings in the Georgia RICO case get livestreamed on the Judge's Youtube channel is a quirk of Georgia state law that's pretty much not going to happen anywhere else.

Them objecting to questions doesn't mean answering them honestly is bad for the objecting side. I'd have thought the Amber Heard trial proved that to you wackos.
Trump and Co. really didn't want to see what Ivanka had to say while under oath. What Ivanka said basically amounted to her saying "We did all the fraud we're accused of and here's how we did it."

This is not true, that only applies to federal trials.

It really didn't but ok.

Um, in the NY fraud case the State of New York used practically every single defendant as a witness for the plaintiff. When the plaintiff in a civil trial wants to put the the other side on the witness stand as witnesses in their favor it ain't gonna end well for the party that got sued.

... No, as in it literally always happens. Regardless of if there's a case or not. See: Amber Heard, Rittenhouse, and almost every single other lawsuit and criminal trial ever.
The reason it almost always happens is because bullshit gets dismissed with prejudice.

But the media, insanely enough, built him up to be this horrifying far-right outsider who was making all these allegedly destructive and isolationist changes to how the country was run. How so? How was Trump objectively different from his predecessors, aside from how the media told us to feel about him?

I'm only going to go so much into this here, but i'll comment on this.

I have two different minds on Trump. There is Trump as Presented By Trump Himself, and there was What Actually Happened Trump.

What Actually Happened Trump was... fine? Too much added to the deficit, too much damage to relations with our allies.

Trump As Presented By Trump Himself was... horrible. If Trump could just shut the fuck up for 5 minutes, it all ends up being so much better. It's less that i'm against what Trump actively did and was more against what Trump support and said he wanted to do.

Overall, it's Post-Defeat Trump that really sealed it. That behavior is unforgivable.

I'm in the opposite camp. Trump was a 6/10 president with a lot of bluster. I can ignore the bluster for his generally decent policies. meanwhile Bush, Obama, and Biden have done a lot of damage to America institutionally, economically, domestically, and internationally. All while saying nice words. I do not care for the nice words anymore. I just want them to stop fucking over Americans.

That's what the left, and a considerable amount of Republicans don't understand about a lot of us. We're fed up with nice words, deliver some results.

In fact, while I always wished Trump would just shut up, that bluster and talk is what a lot of his supporters LIKE about him. They hate this system that has done nothing for them, as I do too, and Trump said a lot of what they've been thinking.

I personally think Trump could be good for that kind of thing, but there were times where he would have been better off if he had just shut up. Sometimes you just shut your trap and let your enemy make a mistake. That final debate with Biden where he just needed to STFU and let Biden make a fool of himself is a good example of that.

That's fair. I disagree, but it's a fair opinion.

I'm more so happy that Trump was just generally incompetent and didn't really get to do much of what he wanted to do. Every President has their issues, and does some good and bad.

There was some good out of Trump. The thing was Trump is less about he was able to do, and more what he stated/inferred that he wanted to do. Usually, I want a candidate to follow through on their promises. I... did not want that from Trump.

Trump has a place in politics, but President isn't it. Trump would make an absolutely amazing Secretary of State or Vice President. Trump should be the hype man, but not the guy in charge. Trump is good for bringing in ratings.
