The War in Afghanistan

The Civil Reserve Air Fleet has been activated which means US airliners can be utilized is the ongoing evacuation. Looks like it's 18 planes at the moment.

Seems like doing that earlier would've been better.
I have the terrible suspicion it wasn't because it makes the 'optics' even worse.

Bright side to all the dead people this has resulted in--all this makes very clear that high-level civil and military authorities in the US are a cluster of incompetence, blame-shifting, and PR-obsession.

Update: In the Biden White House's "overarching focus on the domestic matters [that] it has prioritized for the last eight months" (Los Angeles Times), the Instapundit blog just reminded us of Jonah Goldberg's take on the Democrats' “the moral equivalent of war”. As Ed Driscoll puts it:

Not surprisingly, the party whose organizing method is “the moral equivalent of war” views American politics as the continuation of warfare by other means, to flip von Clausewitz’s axiom on its head. And as the last week has illustrated, they’re far more focused on fighting against the American people, rather than Middle Eastern terrorists.
Regarding the NEED for F-15S AND NUKES TO FIGHT THE GOVERNMENT, Glenn Reynolds adds some choice quotes from Larry Correia:

“In something that I find profoundly troubling, when I’ve had this discussion before, I’ve had a Caring Liberal tell me that the example of Iraq doesn’t apply, because ‘we kept the gloves on’, whereas fighting America’s gun nuts would be a righteous total war with nothing held back… Holy shit, I’ve got to wonder about the mentality of people who demand rigorous ROEs to prevent civilian casualties in a foreign country, are blood thirsty enough to carpet bomb Texas. You really hate us, and then act confused why we want to keep our guns?”

From Larry Correia's comments page:

“How does that saying go? ‘If you want to know who your rulers fear, look at who they threaten to nuke?’ It’s quite obvious that ruling class America hates and fears the American people much more than they hate and fear any foreign power on Earth.”
In our new compassionate, tolerant, be-nice-to-everybody world where hatred and stereotypes are taboo, there is in fact one type of person throughout the five continents whom it is not only acceptable to ridicule, castigate, demonize and, yes… hate, it is in fact almost mandatory to do so. And that is: a leader or member of America's Republican party. And no, that it is not something that is recent (or the fault of Donald Trump or George W Bush…)
As an 1860 presidential contender, Abraham Lincoln, put it more than 160 years ago, as he tried to address Southerners and members of the Democrat Party only five or six years after the birth of the Republican Party,

You consider yourselves a reasonable and a just people … Still, when you speak of us Republicans, you do so only to denounce us as reptiles, or, at the best, as no better than outlaws. You will grant a hearing to pirates or murderers, but nothing like it to [Republicans]. In all your contentions with one another, each of you deems an unconditional condemnation of [Republicanism] as the first thing to be attended to. Indeed, such condemnation of us seems to be an indispensable prerequisite — license, so to speak — among you to be admitted or permitted to speak at all.

Yes, they did. Bacha Bazi anyone?
Yes, that is why I called the ANG sleazy; however the ANG didn't set women on fire for 'bad cooking' or ship them to neighboring countries in coffins to be used as sex slaves.
They left thier women and children to escape
Yep.

The ANA and Taliban both engage in some really shady, sleazy, horrible shit.

The Taliban edges the ANG out because in the ANG, women didn't need to fear being lit on fire for 'bad cooking' or sold as sex slaves, and could even become pilots.

Turns out the ANA Air Force had a lot of women in it, compared to other branches.

The ANA were using male kids as sex slaves

Yeah, I know; I've seen the news articles.

What we are dealing with the...small difference in horrendous between rape and murder/attempted murder.

Both are abhorrent, but one may see the victim survive and get justice while alive, the other often does not.
How is keeping boys as sex slaves less bad?
As some put it, the internal conflict there is between pedo savages who prefer boys and pedo savages who prefer girls.
Hadn't considered that view, but it's fair.

Just makes the last 20 years seem like even more of a waste now.

Always remember that how ever incompetent and sleazy the ANG/ANA were/are, they didn't put up with this sort of shit.
According to those who served there, women being murdered or mutilated by their husbands was a common thing in government controlled areas. It was one of many cultural matters that they were ordered to ignore.

t;dr: America failed because Afghanistan is a culturally primitive shithole still stuck in the 9th century, and instituting anything remotely modern was like trying to get a lion to eat tofu.

Yeah, I don't care if people call me racist or something: The culture out there is a thousand years in the fucking past compared to the rest of the world -- and that includes China. China, for fuck's sake -- and the only difference is now that they have Technicals, AK-47s, and social-media instead of camels, spears/bows, and parchment.

I would say it's more because the US pretty much went full "Minimum Effort" with the whole thing.

Not so sure they'd vote the way the Dems would like them to. Think Cuban refugees post-Bay of Pigs.
I would doubt it greatly. Refugees from Afghanistan are nothing new in USA and Europe. As such, i wouldn't expect any major surprises with them, just more of the same. Its not common for anyone to say a good word about them in any regard, political or otherwise.

Oh, lovely. They've sent me a mo-ron.
The Taliban twitter correspondent Malang is good at memes and getting away with it too. Inb4 he gets banned for hatespeech?

Limey Black Hawk Down averted.
