Trump was a Democrat?

Also, pretty much everybody even during the extended Cold War was part-Democrat?

I’m guessing there were things to further ideologically align Fallout’s American Leftists against Communism, war and authoritarianism aside

Trump was a Democrat?

He led them out of the cold by reworking them as a pro-capitalist pro-working-class "Blue Dog" populist party. It didn't last and the populists eventually merged with the Republicans, while what was left radicalised and became the short-lived Socialist Democratic Party (which was pretty much just a sockpuppet for the CCP by the end).

Socialist Borgouise

Even Marx acknowledged them

Well that explains America's descent into Authoritarianism...one party states tend to do that

Not helped if among the only actual opposition really were gonna turn traitor

It’s simultaneously a dream and a nightmare for a guy paranoid of all the people he’s accusing of being Communists and the like

Though, did they really have to call themselves Socialists?

Wait, why aren’t there Religious-Politicians listed?

You sure you shouldn't just use a fictional President for what happened to the Democrats? To put it bluntly, I don't think Trump is anywhere near smart enough to "lead them out of the cold".

And I'd assume that any radicalized people would just get slotted into the actual Communist party that exists if they're just going to be CCP puppets. Democratic Socialism kind of explicitly rejects the authoritarian nature of Marxist-Leninist Communism.

Though the party's name could just be that shit where a lot of the nastier Communist regimes tried to spew bullshit about how democratic they were. With the nastier the regime the bigger the spew. I think there's a meme about it?

People's Republic? Bad.

Democratic Republic? Nasty.

People's Democratic Republic? Abandon all hope, ye who enter.

Crow gotta eat

That peckish, patriotic, Protestant passerine.

That is debatable, considering this is an alternate timeline where quite a few Presidents have left their mark on the United States and on both their party and the opposition party, so we're not really able to tell what position the Democratic party was in other than Trump made it turn right-wing populist enough that it merged with the Republican party eventually some years later. Also Trump was essentially able to take over the Republican party by storm as an outsider in real-life so it is not an impossibility for him to do that to the Democrats.

Also, he was mentioned to have become President back in Chapter 6, so he had to fit somewhere in the timeline.
The two supercarriers, USS Richardson and USS Kitty Hawk (renamed during the Kirkpatrick administration – the deeply religious President Kirkpatrick had not approved of former President Trump’s womanising behaviour even three centuries after the fact), waited. They would wait for destruction of the enemy air defence to be confirmed before releasing their fighter complements.

he was weary of life. For so long he had been caught up in here, skin leathery and mummified, a dozen tubes piercing his emaciated body to carry out functions it could no longer perform. There was little company here too – either the PR AI he had coded up, or the electronic ghosts of his dead lovers inhabiting securitrons. The courier had stopped visiting some years ago, and he communicated only electronically with any others. Part of him longed to feel the breeze on his skin, to taste good food and fine wine, to enjoy the passions of the body once more. But he knew that part could never have what it desired.

so I just reread chapter 12 and I've noticed something above it says that Mr house wants to feel what it's like to be in a real body again well if he succeeds in making himself desirable to the u.s that could be something they could offer him as they could make him a new synth body

Probably a body that looks younger than his pre-war self too

I would pay to see everybody's faces at the Ultra-Luxe when he waltzes through the front door for the first time ever at random and proceeds to casually order a steak.

Seriously though Mr House living life after being trapped in a tube for a few hundred years would make a great story in of itself...

Re: the argument that the NCR is being too credulous - I just learned today of quite a community of people (about 20,000) who believe that until relatively recently the world was ruled by a super-empire called Tartaria, which was destroyed and buried by an otherwise unheard-of phenomenon known as a "mud flood", and that literally all of recorded history was falsified to conceal the existence of the Tartarian Empire. And they have far more access to contravening evidence than the NCR does.

Tell me that is a joke. It has to be.

Sneak peek of chapter 13. Would have liked to have the start of the battle in it, but sadly it's going to be another prep chapter. Next chapter is the beginning of the Battle of Rockland.

==*==

A floor below were the Special Recon and Special Interrogation divisions of the CIA, worked by … sensitive individuals. Two floors below were chambers where illegal technology confiscated from CIT was made use of by FBI counter-intelligence. On this floor were the offices of the Joint Intelligence Chiefs – the directors of the CIA, NSA, and FBI counterintel unit (which was to be split from their policing branch in a few months’ time). Above this floor was only the meeting room used by them, which also had seats for the heads of the military intelligence services. The rest was filled with thousands on thousands of bureacrats and functionaries, collating data and preparing intelligence operations across three continents.
