Ch. 25 still going at good speed, but slowly in this heat. Snippet:

==*==

“Before we start this production of Guys and Dolls,” the manager, a balding man whose lifestyle evidently had him eating more than was good for him, said from centre stage. “We would like to give our most humble well-regards to the honourable Nathan Washington, President of the United States, who has chosen to honour us with his presence, and to present this special entertainment for his and your amusement.”

Shoulda told me beforehand, Nate mused, and they shouldn’t treat me like some sorta king. They hadn’t treated him half so obsequiously when he was a Senator. Part of him wondered if seeking the Federalist nomination had been the right idea just for that alone; but then without his presence in the Campaign it would have been Governor Richardson of Maryland. The boy lacked the experience to properly lead in this time of crisis; he’d have been better than Travis but not by much. As a reward for going second place in the primary Nate had selected the man as running mate, so there was that. Alex Autumn had been the only other potential real contender in 2330, and he’d been still mourning his father’s death from cancer. For a moment he wondered who the old man would have selected – de facto via his enormous influence on both the Federalist Party bosses and the common voters – but then decided just to enjoy the show.

The main cast members came out, carrying prop laser rifles and clad in papier-mache T-72 suit replicas. Everybody clapped as they appeared – and then came on the antagonists for this little drama – extras dressed in stage versions of NCR uniforms. They sneered at and taunted the US people, then attacked with full dramatic vigour. There was a mock-fight, with copious amounts of dry ice so that it looked as if laser rifles were actually firing, and punches and kicks that actually looked at least semi-realistic. The NCR group lost easily, and joined up with the US group on stage, then began to sing:

“There’s a Yankee doodle spirit now in the hearts of everyone;
The same Yankee doodle spirit now that’s shouldering our guns;
For freedom and unity; our freedom and unity;
Rights that our fathers won!”

“For these we’ll fight with all our might!
and never shall we cease!
Until we win the victory!
and neverending peace!
So light up that old Yankee doodle spirit;
And forever let it-”

Nate’s phone beeped incessantly in his pocket – not his pip-boy, it’d be bad form to go to any event with that on his left forearm – and he took it out, flipping it open. White House Chief of Staff, he mused as he read the screen before pressing the reply button. Must be actually important.

Currently my guess is:
- Waves of clones from the NCR program begin decanting
- Trouble in Europe as NCR plans to disrupt US reinforcements bear fruit
- House uses the information coming in to run the numbers and decides the NCR is not winning this

[Clone Army March starts in the background]
- Trouble in Europe as NCR plans to disrupt US reinforcements bear fruit
That would put a damper on the various plans that the 'Pheniox' Enclave would be doing.
- House uses the information coming in to run the numbers and decides the NCR is not winning this
Yeah, House is basically a Hari Seldon with a very technocratic and capitalistic bent. I wouldn't be surprised that he literally jumps ship before shit goes downhill.

@Navarro, if you can provide me with the weights and top (hard ground) speeds of the various vehicles, it would be greatly appreciated.

Well he can't come out overtly for the US while surrounded by NCR forces, and any half competent intelligence branch will also have someone like House under heavy surveillance. On the other hand the man is a genius with decades to make backup plans so slipping out information is far from impossible.

Given how stretched thin the NCR is? That would be a canon-breaking amount of competence.

The NCR is literally having the same problems as Rome did during the late republic, just magnified.

M75 Custer: top speed is 90kph on-road, weight 80 tons
M81 Constantine: top speed 60kph on-road, weight 150 tons
M72 Lafayette: top speed 120kph on-road, weight 25 tons
M251 Lejeune/Ridgeway: top speed 120kph on-road, weight 15 tons
M125 Dornan: 65 kph on-road, weight 35 tons unloaded.
M812 Ranger: 140 kph on-road, weight 8 tons

These are all roughly based on said vehicles' RL equivalents.

Ok, that makes things easier. I'll cook some up later today or tomorrow.

@Navarro, well, I got the ranger done, and it's pretty interesting. I assumed that the PA is going to be 500kg in mass (or roughly 5.512 times the standard multiple) for this and used the V-100 series (aka the Cadilac Gage Commando) as the basis.

Wheel Ground Performance:;
Added some bits like the flotation hull, sloped sides, and non-standard off-road wheels. To be honest, it's going to be doing Eurobeats offroad. The armor is a laminate (i.e. a better version of composite armor) that can resist 0.50BMG rounds (the damage of a 12.7x99mm HMG in GURPS is 13d+1 or 13 die and add 1 to the result, and when using the 3.5 average multiplier that means 46.5 or roughly 46 or 47 damage before adding various armor divisors (aka how efficient the round goes through armor)) on all sides... but can't resist the plasma blaster repeater.

I had to do some back-conversion from a GURPS 4e to get the damage output numbers. I assumed that the gattling laser would be a laser rifle in gattling configuration (which, to be honest, it is) and the rapid-fire plasma blaster being an improved plasma rifle.

Funnily enough, that's simple compared to what I have to make for my Future-History setting, as the weapons in Fallout have equivalents in various GURPS articles and settings (with someone actually going through the trouble of getting Fallout to 4e GURPS):

26 metric tons of Humvee/Fernek with me having to use a variation of Battletech armor for it to not die easily. The weapons I had to make a google sheet for just so I can get them accurate. To give you an idea, a rough calc on the penetration capability of that HMG is ~110mm of RHA if the Krupp calculator that I have bookmarked is any indication.

Not Ch. 25, but it's being worked on.
