most esteemed fellow board members in your opinion how practical would a ship using a mixture of the designs of the Mercury and Jupiter class battlestars(but with Star Wars technology) be in Star Wars? personally I'd think such a ship would be an excellent ship for either the Republic or the Rebellion(and by extension the New Republic) and their fighter heavy doctrines

Found an amusing piece of discussion on the anti-disney star wars subreddit. People are probably familiar with Lucasfilm story group representative and wannabee twitter shitlord Pablo Hidalgo, but here's people taking him apart back in 2004 on StarDestroyer.net.

There's a link to the full thread. As a younger member of the fandom, I'm grateful for the learning experience of seeing people's unaltered opinions on Mr. Hidalgo at the time. My own misconception was that the man's inclusion into the story group and the need to avoid pissing off Disney led to his slant towards becoming their official twitter attack dog and die-hard loyalist to Disney canon. Here I can see that the man's stance on the canonicity of various contradictory Star Wars material was already the source of controversy. The threads themselves are amusing. How the stances expressed therein morphed with the release of the Disney trilogy, TLJ especially, and their surrounding controversies, I don't much care to research.

You know what, I didn't think the antics of Hidalgo, Abrams, Kennedy, Johnson and co would utterly eclipse the Travissty, but good grief I was wrong. Fucking Mando Mary Sues, The Legacy of the Force, and the Prequels seem almost nostalgic as a more innocent time by comparison to the Sequel Trilogy.
Tell me about it. If someone had told me that how back things would get under Disney back in the day, I never would have believed them.

In other words, we never knew what we had until we'd lost it.

Same feeling for the Berman era of Star Trek. (Though I wasn’t around in the nineties).

But yeah I think SW fans have grown more appreciative of the later and often very much controversial aspects of the EU. To say nothing of the PT.

Or Gene Rodenberry, Nicholas Meyer, DeForest Kelley, and William Shatner. As annoying as the Space Hippy themes of TNG were, I'd take it over Nu!Trek much less Discovery and Picard. Even Star Trek: The Motion Picture and Star Trek III is worth ten times any of the remake films. And don't even get me started on the masterpieces that were Star Trek II, IV, and VI. Even V is world-class literature by comparison, for all that it's basically just Spock, McCoy, and Kirk being high on mushrooms the whole night ;)

TLDR: Whether it's Star Trek or Star Wars, they just don't make them like they used to.

I mean I’ve developed a greater appreciation for LOTF and FOTJ just by watching TLJ and comparing it to my memories of them.

Personally, I consoled myself by digging out KOTOR and reinstalling it and playing it through a few times. It was a...

...finer age. Revan certainly deserved better than getting a one-time mention in ROS just so they could piggyback on his fame and everyone who put in effort to write his story.

Favorite ship....I'd also have to go with the CR90.

I think they have those already. They're called "star destroyers".

This isn’t to say both of these series didn’t have major problems. FOTJ was al in all not that good in execution, but when I sat through TLJ I missed Daala, Traviss’s Mando’s and Denning’s penchant for adolescent sexual innuendo and graphic violence.

Dang, now I want a FOTJ TV series, the Bazel Warv seen would require a TV MA rating.

I meant the actual hullform of a Battlestar since it seems vastly more practical than say the Venator as a heavy battle carrier design

I miss the Traviss mandos, which is why I have been trying to think of a crossover fic with them.

I miss the jedi killing badasses that also had jedi in its ranks...

I just want Mafioso Luke, a servile Jedi council that can’t tie its own shoe laces without him and gets into violent duels when he’s not around, I want Jaina Solo-a woman who has no basic empathy or tact and is as someone else said a female dudebro.

I love that part of legacy of the force where Luke sends dozens of mandos to their deaths and tells the council he looked forward to running Jacen down.

Denning verse is the best!

Yeah...

There's a reason I stopped reading after the hand of thrawn books. It got kinda depressing after that.

It was a nice happy place for a ending.

Luke getting married to mara jade and leia crying tears of joy at the ending of the war between the empire and the new republic.
Now I'm glad I never bothered reading the Books after that point. Mind you I was somewhat aware of the events since I kept tabs on the timeline but still
