So what are you watching?

I was thinking of watching Hellising. I think its an older anime from the early/mid 2000's. Is it any good?
Been a while since I watched it, but I remember having fun with it. It's very...weird-edgy in the way vampire/monster shows are. Has a really fun, jazz-funk intro as well.

There's an update Hellsing Ultimate that has a much different plot after a certain point in the series. Better animation and the like, but the original, I think at least, makes up some better background/melodrama around one of the characters

Hellsing Ultimate is the full adaptation of the original Hellsing manga

The plot for Hellsing’s original anime was made before the main antagonist even showed up

I mean there are different versions. I think there was a remastered one released so the quality varies a bit and gets better as the series goes on. It was pretty good for its time and the fact that they used cell animation for all of it, and made it so detailed, astounds me.

I just started watching JoJo's Bizzare Adventure Stardust Crusaders. I'm on episode 4 right now.

I liked it. Overall it is a fun story but don't look for any deep meaning coming from it. But the action and charaters all well done which is what you want from any show.

As for what I am watching

Outlaw Star: I just did some spring cleaning and found a box of misplaced anime from my move last year. So now I am watching Outlaw Star which is what got me into anime way back when I saw it on Adult Swim. It is a classic hero story and a good Sci-Fi show for any anime fan.

Amazing Race: I will also start watching Amazing Race when it starts on CBS. It is a reality T.V. show but more game show then anything else. It is always fun to watch and you get to see a lot of different place around the world.

I was watching the X Files last night. I forgot how part of what makes the show so good is the music. Heart palpitating tension, or horror themes. With a very nineties touch.

A good musical score really can make or break a show or movie, especially in the appropriate scenes.

When in doubt Avatar the Last Airbender is always a good show to watch so I'm currently going through an episode a week. It brings back memories of when I was growing up. DS9 is also something I'm going through again albeit slowly

I like DS9. But it does have its share of preaching like the time travel episodes even if it does balance it out better then Next Generation.

Avatar the Last Airbender is a great show and shows that Amercian Animation is not dead. It is also one of the rare shows that targets an older audience with out being the crude humor Family Guy.

It also has a decent sequel in Korra. I do know that is has a lot of online hate for not being as good as Last Airbender. But despite its problems in lack of focus it did some interesting world building and charaters. It was also nice to see how different Avatars could be.

The opinion that agrees with your preconceived notions;)
Well, that's distressing. On the one hand, I do enjoy biased presentations that reaffirm my beliefs. On the other, a well informed counterpoint helps me reevaluate my own position. It's just harder accepting the latter.

I suppose I'll need to watch it.

I honestly have not seen it. So I can't tell you if it is all Rome is evil or Glory to Rome or a more moderate look at the Roman Empire.

So I started Amazing Race new season tonight. I like this show snice it is more game show then others like Big Brother or Bachelor.

Mainly they have teams do a massive relay race. While they pick and choose events that realated to the country it is mainly fun to watch and see the different places.

Mainly anime, and the occasional K-drama.

Tonikaku Kawaii is a rom-com anime about a newly wed couple. The first two episodes were fine, but as of the 3rd and 4th episodes I'm afraid that it's turning into another harem anime. I don't really have a problem with harems, but to me the appeal of the show was that the couple was supposed to be actually together. We'll see as it continues.

Vagabond is a Netflix Kdrama about a guy trying to avenge his nephew, who was on a plane that was sabotaged by a megacorporation trying to win an arms deal. The first two episodes are little hard to get through as there are a lot of ridiculous magic hacking devices and coincidences, and the protagonist constantly shouts at people, and the two girl characters were rather unlikeable. However, after episode 2, I began to like the characters more, and the magic hacking devices go away so the plot is rather plausible from there on out (aside from a couple instances). I really like the brisk plot progression of the show. Also, props to the main villainess for being very hateable. Recommend (but if you haven't seen a Kdrama before, I'd strongly recommend seeing Signal too!)

It’s not a groundbreaking choice on my part, but I watch The Mandalorian pretty regularly.

Other than that, not much. I’m more of an internet junkie than a habitual TV watcher, though I have been thinking about getting started on other shows. For all Mankind and The Expanse come to mind at the moment.

The Expanse is one of the better Sci-Fi show out right now. It has enough realism that makes it different from the soft Sci-Fi shows like Star Trek. But the real hit is the multiple plots line and ensemble cast. They make for a broad and interesting world.

As for All of Mankind. I have only seen the frist two epsdoies. What I saw was interesting with a decent twist that is one of the better "What if" I have seen. The only thing that worries me is that they are foreshadowing the picks for a new astronaut teams.

But it does get off to a strong start.

So I have caught a cold and took a couple of days off. This left me time to binge Carnival Row. It is a fantasy Noir show that has a short frist season. There are hints of some decent world between the different countires, past war and current situation in the Burgue(the shows main location).

Some of the races and plotlines are little of the nose especially with the Burgue being a London expy.

But overall the murder mystery part with the background of poltics and war make for a good noir setting with some fantasy elements.

I watched the first episode of Netflix’ Barbarians. I lost interest by the second episode. Too melodramatic.
That was exactly my reaction, too! They did great work on the costumes and the Latin... and then they applied that excellent work to what's essentially a sort of soap opera.
