Russian Invasion of Ukraine 2022

The Russian government sure as heck is acting like it's suffered catastrophic losses.

Or they need a massive force to use in the Ukraine operations. And several of the already recruited forces need to be replaced - they are recruited for some months of duty, not for life after all.
After all, Ukraine is very big, the frontline is more than a thousand kilometers wide.
Not saying that you are wrong, just presenting another option.

So, where is the massive standing force? Why no one's sats can see it? Where is the massive rise in logistical capability needed to support it?
And last but not least, why the desperate looking for sources of said manpower?
After all, if they are well paid, allowed to leave duty *during war* and the losses are low, why do they need such scraping of the barrel?

Task & Purposes Chris Cappy analyzes the Battle of Avdiivka with a focus on why Russia would be pursuing capturing the City in spite of the heavy casualties they've suffered.

Update on Russian and Ukrainian Documented Losses in the Battle of Avdiivka. Interesting that the 47th Mechanized which was in Zaporizhzhia recently (replaced by another unit) is defending Avdiivka. Documented recently as having lost one Leopard 2A6 Tank and three Bradley's as abandoned.

There are reports Russia will be trying for a third large offensive in the Avdiivka area. Recently an assault was repelled in nearby Vuhledar as well.

$425 million military aid package for Ukraine from the United States. Nothing exceptionally new but more munitions replenishment it seems, plus drones and Vampire laser guided advanced precision kill weapon systems from L3 Harris reportedly.

Swedish PM Announces Four More Archer SPG's will be joining the eight already in Ukrainian Service in the near future.

Farmers in Mykolaiv, which used to be the frontline up until the Fall of 2022 with the Ukrainian Counteroffensive in Kherson, detail some of the difficulties in operating a farm in fields littered with mines, munitions and wreckage.

Rest in Peace Ihor Dubyk. A sixty year old Ukrainian Territorial Defense soldier who was captured in Mariupol in May of 2022, almost eight months in Russian captivity and torture, lost thirty kilograms before being exchanged on December of 2022. He returned to service next February and died in fighting last month.

Looks like it was the missile Corvette Askold that was struck by French Scalp/Storm Shadow Cruise Missiles in the Kerch Repair Shipyard.

This might've been part of a greater operation as other strikes occurred deep behind the frontlines reportedly.

Not long after an explosion was recorded in Rostov, deeper in Russian territory.

What's also interesting about Rostov is that there was apparently a lot of Russian Air Defense Systems moved into the area a few days ago, including multiple S-400 batteries.

There was also a strike reported in Skadovsk, in the occupied Kherson Oblast along the Black Sea Coast and close to Crimea itself.

Three hundred thousand dead?

I’m hoping those number are wrong because if they aren’t that’s a lot of hapless sodding Mobiks thrown into the meat grinder.

Any sane country would have thrown the towel in by now.
Then Moscov never was sane country, becouse no matter which tsar ruled, white or red, they genuinly do not cared how many of their soldiers die.
With exception of poor Nicolas II - he cared, and payed for that with his life. And his family, too.

A reported 28 Ukrainian Soldiers are Dead and 53 Wounded After a Russian Iskander Missile Strike Hit an Assembly of Troops of the 128th Mountain Brigade. Russian Drones captured footage of the strike. Needless to say, it'll trigger an investigation as to how it was allowed and how it was struck.

Bayraktar Drones Still In Use On the Front, Again Mostly Used for Recon and Observation. Here they are assisting in the targeting of GMLRS rockets.

Russian Media Released Media Of The Leopard 2A6 Lost In Avdiivka Recently. Apparently the Crew Survived, Presumably Well Enough That They Could Abandon the Vehicle On Their Own. A Bradley IFV helped evacuate them.

Fairly long interview by Dylan Burns of "Alex Silva" a Brazilian volunteer in the Ukrainian International Legion. He previously worked as a Private Military Contractor doing mostly security and training work in the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Afghanistan. He moved to Ukraine in 2016 and served with the International Legion since close to the start of the Invasion.

And,according to some article i once read, their army reject 20% of recruits becouse they are too destroyed by alcochol or drugs.Forget title,as usual.
While the brightest and richest figured out how to wheedle their way out of conscription and get a deferrment or "permanently incapacited for Service" waivers.
The usual state of affairs in a country with conscription - unless you conscript 100% of an age cohort, you end up with a somewhat under-average sample of a nation's manfolk under arms.

I openly confess of trying very hard not to get conscripted 35 years ago ...

I find it hard to believe Russia threw away 0.2% of its population with out any noticeable headway. People forget Russian's population is a third of America's.
Corruption and disdain for human life will do some nasty things to your civilization.

Russia threw away millions of people trying to prove that plants were 'socialist.'

They haven't even lost a million to this war yet, and they do still have more land than they started with. This is entirely in character.

Ukrainian Forces/Marines, Including Armored Vehicles, Are Apparently in Some Sort of Operation on the Russian controlled bank of the Dnipro and Russian accounts are stating Russian FPV style drones cannot operate in the area due to Ukrainian jamming/electronic warfare.

Russian MT-LB strikes a mine well behind the frontlines. Russian social media post states that Ukraine is deploying mines in Russian rear areas via artillery and drones etc.

Another 100mm KS-19 Anti-Aircraft Gun (first released in 1947) in use. This one is mounted on the flatbed of a Tatra Truck.

Russian Soldier Who Surrendered to Ukraine States He Attempted to Flee Service But Captured, Imprisoned and Tortured, and then he and other refuseniks were used to assault through minefields.

Donald Trump declines President Zelensky's invitation to visit Ukraine, stating: "I have great respect for President Zelenskyy, but think it would be inappropriate to go to Ukraine at this time. The Biden administration is currently dealing with him, and I would not want to create a conflict of interest."
