Heavy Fighting, With Heavy Casualties, Reported in the Kherson Region with Some Territory and Villages Retaken by Ukrainian Forces.

The Telegraph said:
Despite Ukraine having recaptured a number of villages previously under Russian control, their well-equipped enemies are not fleeing without a fight, Ukrainian soldiers said.

Exhausted medics are working overtime in crammed hospitals as the major counter-offensive claims a mounting number of casualties. Moscow’s forces were said to be attempting to hold off Ukrainian advances with tanks, artillery and helicopters.

The Telegraph said:
Ukraine's southern operational command on Thursday claimed its forces had killed 201 Russian soldiers and destroyed 12 T-72 tanks, 18 armoured vehicles and six ammunition depots over the past 24 hours of fighting.

A pro-Russian source claimed the invasion force was now under attack by fresh Ukrainian forces, equipped with Nato weapons, rather than the "tattered formations", made up of "poorly trained reservists", they had faced before.

Ukraine Has Been Seen Using Iranian Ordinance Before But That Was Likely Supplied by the US/UK who Seized Arms Shipments Meant for the Houthis in Yemen or Other Groups. Allegedly these Iranian-made munitions could've been sourced differently, if not from Iran then potentially a third party selling Iranian munitions. Iran is no longer under a UN Arms Embargo, merely from the EU and US etc.

For me the fascinating thing on the recruitment poster is the age - up to 59!
Women with medical education - up to 45?
Still you need secondary education, though. Which, IIRC, means ten years of education?

If the Russians lose the Kherson, it could cost them the whole war or at least put them back years. The Kremlin really just needs to swallow its pride and unleash the floodgates. They should be snatching men off the street and training them for battle. Right now, it seems like they're just hoping winter will come and do the job for them.

Going by firsthand accounts from contract soldiers who've been on the front, they're not even training the men they already are deploying. Things like 'I fired a rifle three times before they put me on the front line' have come up.

Corruption is a horrible thing.

Nah, they are going to turn Kherson into a pocket that is pounded by arty 24/7 and only supplied by raft, and that's only till the attack out of Kharkiv cuts/get's in range of the supply lines on the other side of the Dnieper too.

The fall mud season is in about 10~ weeks, and once that happens tanks and heavy vehicles will by stuck on main roads till the heavy freezes.

The Ukrainian's don't need to assault Kherson, they need to pound it and hold the Russian forces there, so those Ru forces cannot break out to hit the attack out of Kharkiv.

If Ukraine plays this right, they can push into the rear of the Russian forces, before the ground turns to mud, and force the Russians back into the Donbass before the of the year.

I think Ukraine can get it's 2014 borders back, and remove Russia from the Donbass, if they can keep fucking over Russian logistics chains so their material reserves and Nork purchases are render moot.

Edit: Also, looks like around 48k Russian's have been killed, based on this document and some simple math.
