Russian Invasion of Ukraine 2022

Guess the DPR gov was sick of being used as meatshields, and now Russia has direct control over one of the puppet 'states'.

So a Moroccan as well.

Rock-armor; I guess gravel/cobble is cheap, plentiful, and at least useful against low end AT weapons/AT rifles going for your tracks.

Yeah actual Ukrainian mikitary fighters that are foreigners with one having dual citizenship.
This is against the Geneva convention

Did Russia just become House Kurita? I mean, it's perfectly acceptable to view mercenaries as a less-than-worthy opponent, but this action ensures that any mercenaries they fight won't surrender. They'll cause even more damage before they can be taken out.
They're doing it to send a message to any other volunteers.

The underlying side of it is if these volunteers were caught in warcrimes hence the death sentence but such is war and the price of being caught on the losing side by the victor to lay out the sentence on them.

Let's be honest, when has the Geneva Convention ever meant shit to Russia; they put US/NATO recon men in gulags during the Cold War, while we treated their people according to the Convention.

They are being very liberal with their standard of "war crimes", on old stalinist principle of "findme a man, and i'll find a paragraph". By that logic every single Russian and DPR artilleryman is a war criminal too.
They are also inviting qualification as a terror state equal to ISIL from UK, and by proxy the west, as they are not recognized by them and such obvious violation of Geneva Convention does call for it.
So if they and Russia think the sanctions are so bad they can't get worse, there's bad news for them. In fact its something pro-Ukraine talking heads wildly suggested some time ago, but if Russia and its puppets keep acting this way, they may actually provide enough excuses for that to get political traction.
And on the other side, they are of course inviting similar treatment from Ukraine.

I am very aware.

Already there's a Russian soldier caught and put on trial for killing an Ukranian civilian.

Russia is now in control of much of Severodonetsk, the epicenter of the battle for Ukraine's eastern Donbas region

(CNN)Russian forces are now in control of most of Severodonetsk, the epicenter of the bloody battle for Ukraine's eastern Donbas region.
Street fighting continued to rage on Saturday in the eastern city, where Russian soldiers and Ukrainian troops are still locked in battle.
"The situation remains difficult. Fighting continues, but unfortunately, most of the city is under Russian control. Some positional battles are taking place in the streets," said Serhiy Haidai, the governor of Luhansk region, which makes up Donbas along with the neighboring Donetsk region.
The most active areas of fighting were Severodonetsk, Popasna, and the area of the Siverskyi Donets river, Haidai said on national television Saturday, adding Russian forces were using "highly destructive thermobaric rocket artillery."
