Speaking of which, reportedly around three hundred Russian officers have been killed in fighting according to publicly available data. Which means almost one out of every five publicly confirmed deaths is that of an Officer. Other analysis shows most of the dead are young and poor and barely any from the urban centers of Moscow or St. Petersburg. Provinces such as Dagestan and Buryatia have suffered disproportionately heavy losses. Marine and Airborne Units have also suffered particularly heavy casualties.

Philipps O'Brien, a Professor of Strategic Studies at St. Andrews University, has his own analysis of the current Battle or Campaign for the Donbass.

It's a long(ish) thread but he predicts the Offensive will pewter out even if using low estimates of Russian losses with very small territorial gains measuring only a few kilometers in various areas but without a general Ukrainian collapse, the chance of a large encirclement is very small. The intensity of combat (and thus plateau'ing of casualties) maybe coming close or have already happened if the pace of advance continues to slow. Also Ukrainian artillery has continued to be accurate even across longer ranges and their capability in that arena should only increase with incoming Western support in the form of training, new artillery and shells as well as special munitions such as the Switchblade drones and their variants.
