Russian Invasion of Ukraine 2022

And there are several thousand in depots. Basically Russians kept buying T-90 to keep the Nizhy Tagil factory operational and sent many directly from factory into storage.

"Currently Russian Army operates around 750 - 1 000 of these MBTs of all variants. It is the most modern tank currently in service with the Russian Army, which has a requirement for around 1 500 of these tanks."

Ummm...
I am no military expert or identification weenie by any means whatsoever so consider this me asking folks here, but at five seconds in it rather looks like el rocket trucko still has rocketos on it. And even presuming the warheads won't go pop unless they're armed (which I'm not sure is a safe assumption), I'd assume the fuel for the missiles/rockets could up? Which, again presumably, would throw rockets forward/out/around or, presuming it has some kind of locks or caps on the launchers, would make a big-ass fiery mess you wouldn't want to be close to?

Where is Rocky and Bullwinkle....excuse me, MOOSE AND SQUIRREL when you need them??

"Heyyy, Rocky! Watch me pull a rabbit outta my hat! Nuthin' up my sleeve....PRESTO!!"

KABOOM

AHEM, to be serious....really depends on the fuses and settings on those rockets, and how well they've been maintained. They SHOULDN'T blow by just sitting there. Then again, the fuses on some Soviet-era weapons were known to be finicky at times or had certain design "features". For instance, the fuses on RPG-7 rockets are protected only by a simple screwed-on threaded cap that must be screwed off prior to firing. Of course, should one happen to screw off the safety cap beforehand, then proceed to trip and fall with said RPG-7 rocket loaded with the cap off and the fuse hits the ground, KABOOM. And some fellows I've spoken to who did time in Iraq and Afghanistan say they witnessed that happen multiple times.

When I made that wisecrack about the Russians maybe needing antiquated weapons given the rate of their armor losses I wasn't expecting to see it in action before dinner.

Reportedly success by the Ukrainian forces in capturing a village near Mykolaiv in Southern Ukraine.

The village's name is Possad Pokrowske; about halfway between Mykolaiv and Kherson. There's a video from about 2PM EST today that was claimed to be footage of Ukrainian army troops in the village:

Given the number of signs all around I figure this should be easy to confirm, but I don't know any native speakers and I can't read Cryllic. Perhaps someone here could help?

EDIT: Got some help on Discord, was reliably informed that the yellow sign at the :02 mark is definitely the cryllic spelling for Possad Pokrowske (first line, smaller letters.) They gently informed me I'm an idiot as I can just use Google Translate in reverse.

@Agent23 do you have telegram? Perhaps you could message that Slava Z fellow so he can update his map. :)

Welcome to Ukraine. The enemy has lots of artillery.

On Russian Social Media sites, a lot of these are being released, the watermarked romanov_92 has a large number of videos on Telegram, but fair warning, the bulk of them are graphic. It looks like the bulk of Ukrainian Ambushers are little more than armed civilians and the bulk of the ambushes fail with heavy Ukrainian losses. Ambushes by KORD units are more successful but then again they are special forces and and trained to live off the land and resupply off of dead Russians, hence you only ever see them with RPGs as they are easier for them to lug around and replace. But even KORD videos are drying up lately as the Russians tighten up their rear areas.

Russians have captured so many Javelins and NLAWs, they are having their troops use them even in training.

FSB starting the deportations.

The War in Ukraine

Unclear if Posad-Pokrovske is a raid or a real counter-attack at the moment, Mykolaiv blew both its bridges in case the city fell so if its a real counter attack, units from elsewhere have been allocated to the attack and had to have had seized M14. But since that doesn't seem to be the case, a raid is more likely. Russians will most likely reverse the situation in 48 hours.

As things stand, the Russian losses remain below their replacement rate, Javelins and NLAWs have not have had as large an impact as thought. Drones likewise are not fundamentally affecting the operational picture either and the Ukrainians are putting teens with just 3 days of training on the front.

You know, you keep mentioning this, and as far as I can tell it's based off an article where some teenager who had been a university student got three days of training before getting plopped into a checkpoint in downtown Kyiv well behind the frontlines.

Yeah, here we go, found the interview.
Needless to say, a roadside checkpoint that civilian vehicles are still driving past in clusters large enough to cause traffic jams is decidedly not 'the front'.

They are in range of Russian Artillery and Russian SOF operate across the city despite the best efforts to run them down. So yeah they are on the front. As are others.

Russia continues to systematically destroy UkA Logistical Hubs.

Those buildings in the bottom left corner are in the center of the city.

Well if your business relies on lasers, this place's destruction means Neon gas needed for lasers will be in short supply for longer.

Would Russians just do that? Just go on the internet and tell lies?

Truly impressive operational craft from the Russians; they are consistently able to strike targets despite their drone's camera resolution being perhaps 1/4th of the ones the Ukrainians use. Exceptional training. Slightly frustrating though, as I can't actually see what they're blowing up.

So they probably moved one or two battalion groups from the Odessa region as the chances of Russians doing amphibious landing grow less likely.

To be fair that's Donbass forces, they are using anything they can get their hands on, as Russia didn't fully supply them before the war, to preserve the illusion of not being their puppetmaster. Not that anyone believed that one, but political theatre has it's own logic.
