Seems to lend weight to reports of a landing near Odessa.

Although I do wonder what a Turkish ship, apparently a civilian one at that, was doing so close to the fighting. Maybe it was trying to bug-out before the shooting started and was too slow. Maybe there's more. IDK.
Ships don't move fast even planes had to pretty much scramble to leave the area.

Covertly gathering intelligence for Turkey's own purposes (learn more about Russian military performance?) Is one possibility.

And this is what I’m afraid of. This is how shit can potentially escalate if they’re not fucking careful.

this happens all the time in conflicts, so the odds of it is expanding the war is low standard procedure is for Russia to claim it was an accident, and turkey to accept the apology, possibly while demanding compensation.

True, but every incident is still a potential dice role.

Sooner or later someone ends up rolling a natural “1”, or snake eyes depending on what game you play.

As a heads up the world is divided on kicking Russia out of swift, and since several major countries including Germany say no, odds are very low that Russia will be booted from the financial system. Edit: seems to not want to allow links give me a moment to pull the archive.
I can't see it happening, seems like the UK is literally the only one pushing for it, with the US seeing it as too risky to force Russia into an economic corner with no option but China, which is the worst case scenario.

Yep, that seems likely, main question is what sanctions they will try. The UK seems to be targeting weapons companies, a logical choice but no real effect on Russia as the people who buy their stuff tend not to care about the Wests opinions. Energy would work but Europe is dependant on their fuel and doesn't have alternatives. Beyond that sanctions can't do much.

Picture posted about five minutes ago, showing a Ukrainian T-84 and a handful of soldiers in position around the Richeliu Statue in central Odesa, about 1/2 km from the Odesa Dock.

If so that suggests initial reports of russian amphibious landings were incorrect, as that area would likely be overrun if so where are those 5 lst's
