Okay analogy time.

Let's say Ukraine is the System Alliance from Mass Effect and America is the Turians from Mass Effect.

Russia is the Reapers.

The Reapers in this scenario have a substantially smaller forces than in canon (several magnitudes) but on the other hand the colonies of Turian Empire are in dire economic straights due to their economy being fucked up so a lot of their citizens are suffering.

The rest of the Citadel Council is pumping in numerous resources flooding the System Alliance with war material where they're spanking the Reapers.

But the Turian people are getting agitated as it seems their Government abandoned them. On the other hand no Council members wants to get into a war with the Reapers and are content with just supplying war material.

What would be the ethical/moral choice as the Turian Hierarch?

Divert resources to your people and failing economy or continue helping another nation that is fighting a potential mutual threat that you could defeat on your own?

Wanna know how much is being spent on Medicare and welfare things going on in the US that are making things worse for us?
You have to look at it this way. 13 dollars a month to remain top dog. Ir complain about 13 bucks a month when the government is taking even more for a lot less good things.

Your choice.
Because you either get destroying an adversary and allowing the Military to focus on the true rival or you get your money taken for some tranny to get surgery.
We all know it is more than 13 a month, and you are getting about as much bang for your buck as you got from supporting North Vietnam, paying Pakistan to help you fight terrorism and that silly government you propped up in Afghanistan.

The ethical choice would be to stop the policies that are screwing your economy over, and send part of the increase in tax income you enjoy from that to support the war effort.

There are only three things that can cause long-term economic failure. In no particular order, those are natural disasters, government interference, and overwhelming moral degradation among the populace.

The most common culprit is government interference with a side of moral degradation.

Ah so first help yourself than help others would that be a fair conclusion?

tell you what convince the boomers to reduce medicare expenses so we can send that money to Ukraine. do it. given the choice I want neither. the money is wasted as much killing aids infested homosexual Russian rapists in their completely incompetent military as it is cutting the balls off a 10 year old boy because his mom has a pet issue and needs to feel special.

to my knowledge approximately 60% of the federal budget (pre-covid) goes to welfare programs. the biggest 2 being medicare and social security. convincing a boomer to audit these programs is an exercise in futility. not end. audit them. at this point I don't think the government is capable of doing much of anything other than shoveling money into black holes and creating more black holes to shovel money into or democracy will be over.

We should really give it a better name. since those programs do the opposite of promoting welfare.

For example, part of why there is such a huge epidemic of single mothers, is that if you have a husband + wife + child with everyone unemployeed.
The husband leaving the house will actually get them more government money, even though it is less mouths to feed.

Those laws are specifically designed to create state dependents and destroy the family.

How about I put it this way.
We are making more money off of Europe in the long run then we are losing money to Ukraine.
Tippy put it in a good way.
We are becoming major LNG and other imports for Europe due to Russia being sanctioned
last time we got involved in a euro conflict and helped rebuild after they decided to form the EU and get in bed with the russians. pass. euros are at best fair weather friends who want whatever we hand them while double dealing with our enemies. our gas bills have gone up and we have had the dems refuse to allow expansion of production because climate change. saying we are selling to europe now just means we got more competition for keeping our homes warm.

They started doing that after 91 and when the greens started to take control and USSR fell.

I'm sorry but we get more from Taiwan and Japan than we do the EU.

What ever benefits we get from the is minimum after serving as their military for like sixty years. UK isn't even ranked as a 1st world military anymore

Russian shill shills Russian shills who shill Russia, all is normal in the world.
The Duran was created in May 2016 after Peter Lavelle severed his ties with Russia Insider.
Peter John Lavelle is an American journalist and host of CrossTalk, a political talk show on the English-language TV channel Russia Today.[1] Lavelle, originally from Beverly Hills, California is now based in Moscow.[2]
A change in editorial line around 2015 (with accusations of the whole Russia Insider being a honey trap by US intelligence services) led to a decided narrower focus on what was chosen for publication. Marko Marjanović, who previously was one of the editors of the site, left and set up his own news aggregator, the excellent anti-empire.com, and several earlier enthusiastic participants like the analyst the Saker, started boycotting the site.

Yes, but also no.

The main situation where the US would conceivably need help is with China, where Japan would likely be more useful.

Any other nation either has nukes and so military power isn't the real issue, or is so weak relative to the US that having military allies isn't as critical.

Also, I feel like Russia didn't learn from the Cold War at all - the economic hegemon inevitably becomes the military hegemon. Then again, it appears we immediately forgot that lesson as well if you look at our relationship with China.

In the long run Russia mobilizing it's student population is a waste.

Ree harder, we all know that is all you can do, and call people who disagree with your NAFO brain diarrhea commie and Vatnik and so on.
We all know that when you can't use pseudo-morslistic drivel and your attempt to organize struggle sessions agsinst your opponents fail you just default to attacking the messenger.

Your opinion is, as it has always been, null and void. :)
