I think the deathblow for Twitter is that younger people don't use it, which mean who's on there now is all they got.
Their upper middle class corporate allies use it. And what happens on Twitter expands way beyond Twitter.
It's their favorite toy. That's why they're so upset over Elon buying it. It's not going to be given up easily, and if the sale falls through they'll ensure Twitter stays around.

Elon already proved that Twitter was lying about how well it was doing and that there are a overwhelming amount of bots on it. That plus the Veritas leaks showing they blatantly suppress views that aren't leftist has utterly wreaked any credibility Twitter has.

The price for this is just too high, especially with worsening market conditions, so I think that not buying may be in fact in Musk best interest. Space exploration is also important.
And Starship just got FAA cert for it's tanks, so they can move launch prep into high gear if the rest of the permits and wet rehearsals done.

Tl;Dr Twitter lied about how much they were worth, then lied about the data they had about their platform, then refused to be open about it and negotiate therefore trying to swindle both Elon and Twitter Shareholders.
There is a game theory that Elon never meant to buy Twitter, and this deal was a cover for him to cash a shitload of Tesla shares without causing the Tesla bubble to pop at once. Weather it is true or not, I have to say if it is the case it was a really smart play by Elon as he not only cashed out but also fucked twitter over AND kept the people who are big on Tesla safe while doing big damage to his enemies.
