... that's exactly what you need to do to study something though. That's the basic idea behind a controlled experiment. The problem isn't that, at the very least.

The thing is, that's how you do actual lab testing. This isn't lab testing. This is taking a simulation of a dynamic system, and then freezing every part of the system except for the one or two variables you're trying to work with.

Unsurprisingly, this tends to give useless results.

Except global weather is NOT a closed system despite what many think.

Additionally, how the he'll do you isolate the loss of human population in a world 800 years ago with little in the way of recorded data?

Eh? Isnt the idea for scientific studies to FIX outside variables as much as possible as opposed to considering them fixed for the sake of the experiment. I mean I know studies do it but isn't that usually a big 'Correlation does not equate causation. Is uncontrolled experiment, no bully' disclaimer?

The part where people with more money than me get to make my decisions for me. Which admittedly isn't much different from our current system, but at least we don't have company towns anymore.

You mean they deserve to lose workers when they shoot them for complaining? Because that's really all the corporations had for consequences before the government was forced to stop them (after they had helped them by supplying the men and guns to do the shooting). Seriously, look up how company towns actually worked; you'll quickly learn that it was less that people were dumb for being suckered into them, and more that they didn't have a choice.

More of a first against the wall when the revolution comes kind of thing. And I mean as in dumb enough to let it get that bad before getting off their couches.

This is to build support for Bill Gates' sun cooling tech! I'm sure of it!

Edited for link:
A Bill Gates Venture Aims To Spray Dust Into The Atmosphere To Block The Sun. What Could Go Wrong?
Oh damn. They're already at Matrix level shit now.

In the Matrix series, the sky in forever darkened by nano-bots. It was a last ditch attempt by humans to deprive the machines of solar power. So the machines simply captured and enslaved humans for their bio-power.

First wage-slaves, now energy slaves.

Soylent Green, here we come!
