Almost right. Correct map below:

See? Makes much more sense.

First off...the top group are not what I was told were examples of manhood at all. Not from a single source, ever.

The bottom group is much closer, but missing the key depiction of raising a family and caring/providing for it.
It's a joke.

Let me guess: Laughing at John McCain’s death?

Recognized Meghan in there, though I’m not sure most people will, since it’s going on five years since the funeral and news coverage thereof. After all, people have awfully short memories, so…

That's the one. Probably the most famous libertarian tweet is when they sent the Happy Holidays tweet on the anniversary of his death:

This got quite a few people hot under their collar. Basically (as you likely know), John McCain was down for every war and his daughter continues to back them, so the Libertarian Party of NH was celebrating their misery.

Is it ghoulish? Sure. But at the same time, the shock value generated drew attention to McCain's 'sainted' legacy despite being a massive warmonger. He was a less successful Kissinger IMO, without a USSR as a foil to make him seem less bad by being that much worse. And his daughter is on a major US talk show spreading his awful ideals.

To be honest… there are times when I wonder if the world would be a better place if it were more acceptable to speak ill of the dead, not less.

Why? Because then, they couldn’t get away with being terrible people in life and receiving a reverent send-off, anyway. After all, if you know people will judge you by the person you actually were instead of mourning you regardless, you’d have much more reason to be a decent human being in life, so that the community remembers you fondly and is genuinely sad to see you leave.

Sure, it may sound cruel, but the protocol we have now is corrupt swamp-creatures (and other scum of the earth, for that matter) being showered with soaring praise and red-carpet funerals they don’t really deserve. And by the time it’s acceptable to start criticizing them for their faults, the masses will have largely moved on, having passively gone along with the fanfare when their passing was fresh in their minds and eventually, long stopped caring to hold people like McCain — and in a few decades, the Bushes and Clintons, too — accountable for their deeds in life.

I'd say that not speaking ill of the dead has some merit, but it really isn't the problem here: McCain was canonized prior to his death as he was anti-Trump and nice. The thing was, he was a polite, nice, straight up person. The issue is that his fundamental beliefs were simply awful. But as long as you are polite about it, that's fine. If you are loud and obnoxious (like Trump), that isn't.

Nice isn't necessarily good, good isn't necessarily nice.

Liberals speak ill of the dead all of the time.

Remember Rush Limba, Margarate thatcher and the like that said I don't judge em for it because I know the moment Hilary dies I'm going to play ding dong the witch is dead.

Basically, if I disagree with the person on small things or things that they had little control over, I think it's rude to bring those up. Like if DeSantis died tomorrow, I wouldn't harp on him going to far on certain things, or that he did shut down Florida for a little while. Instead, I'd be happy that DeSantis mostly kept Florida open, far more than most.

But then there's a point where I stop caring, and I'll dance on their graves.

Eh, all right.

Upon further reflection, I'm willing to make allowances for nice people who have otherwise "odd" or "quixotic" political views. If nothing else, lambasting them for their politics is a fairly obvious road to political persecution — and thus, a road I'd really prefer not to go down, especially since there's already too much polarization in the world, as is.

Otherwise, even if I did get my way, I still think all-around jerks would have a clear solution: Don't be jerks in the first place, and the community won't badmouth you once you're gone. It's one thing if you're not an absolute angel 24/7, it's another if you show no kindness, courtesy, or consideration for others whatsoever and always push people around to get your way.

Come to think of it… I distinctly recall the same could be said of Africans, since they started the practice of raiding each others’ villages, capturing slaves, and selling them on the open market that European colonizers capitalized on and escalated later. That’s how I recall the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade getting started, at least, though unfortunately, the Europeans took it to new heights over the ensuing centuries.

Heck, Europeans have spent centuries subjugating and spilling the blood of each other, too, as many a war throughout their history can attest to. And yet, there’s generally much less sympathy for “historically oppressed” or “historically marginalized” European ethnic groups, like Ireland (for the potato famine) and Poland (for absorption by Tsarist Russia and getting gang-raped by the Nazis and Soviets). Sure, things are different now, but it’s not like nonwhites have always possessed a total monopoly on plight, struggle, or the brutalization of others, so…

It’s almost as if this whole thing is taken out of context nonsense being used to break down Western pride and nations for some darker purpose…
