@Zach isn't wrong about this.

Scale can be a bitch at elevation. I've also not seen any other pictures of what that site looked like from the Pilot's perspective.

My big problem is that there was no one sticking their head out the side door to verify approach and clearance.

I'd like more evidence to make a decision before I jump to intentional malfeasance.

I am calling zach out for defending any government agency as a knee jerk reaction.

This one, he might even have a semi valid point. But those pilots could be on air saying they did it intentionally, and his reaction would still be the same lol.

I'm also calling out everyone else for dog-piling onto the knee-jerk "IT WAS MALICIOUS ALPHABET SOUP ACTION AGAINST THE PEOPLE!" nonsense that quite a few like to jump to without ANY evidence.

The evidence is called pattern recognition and remembering Katrina, as well as the reality those areas are mostly red areas that the current admin would probably prefer be devastated so as to hurt the GOP base.

We didn't make the rules, the Dems did, and since the DoD decided to play woke politics and FEMA is one of the agencies with the worst rep, assuming the worst about their intentions is just smart and proactively protective of the people FEMA likes to fuck, and which the DoD's woke leadership do not value.

And Zach will defend or try to downplay how bad any government action is, no matter how stupid, corrupt, or outright malicious it is, in order to keep his paycheck.

Edit: Zach literally wants 'service equals citizenship' and forcing people to serve the US gov in some capacity in order to have voting rights, out of sour grapes 'uninformed civies' direct the military, instead of the voting public being only government employees or former government employees.

At this point, I think posting here is part of his job lol

You mean when the state refused to bring in outside help and used local police forces to enforces dictatorial shit against the civilian populations?
Nagin didn't help things and frankly should have been brought up on charges, but FEMA fucked up all it's own that time.

@Bacle

Is your suspicion of the Feds warranted? Absolutely.

The problem comes with your's, and other's, jumping straight to a guilty verdict with nothing more than a short video clip and someone's say-so.

Kyle Rittenhouse would be serving several life sentences if this was how we did things.

It also makes it extremely easy to play you if someone wants to. They can set you up for failure b/c your response is pre-determined.

Because the higher you are the harder to tell how far apart things are. Do...do you not know how this works?
Uh, yeah, and I know you should be able to determine if there's space or not from a lot higher up than he was at. Now, look at that footage again, and tell me where exactly in that clusterfuck was he trying to land? Why were there no complaints about the undelivered generators?

Because unlike the vast majority of you here, I actively pay attention to how things are, read the SOPs for military and defense related things and actively invovled in it.
Dude, you will defend literally anyone who works for the government in any capacity.

No, they didn't. The *only* manner in which FEMA "fucked up" in Katrina was underestimating just how negligent state and local authorities had been in advance and how much they were willing to *continue* fucking their own people over just to make sure FEMA ate the blame.

I would even go so far to say that this was the *only* thing the likes of Nagin and Blanco ultimately cared about. It's impossible to consider their actions anything but malignant when they were abusing their authority to refuse federal aid while literally at the same time calling press conferences to cry abut the lack of federal aid.

Kyle Rittenhouse didn't have a Katrina track record, FEMA does.

Very, very different situations.

That's not the impression I got at the time from the transplanted Katrina kids who ended up in my highschool.

It sounded very much like Nagin and FEMA were both at fault, but were both trying to blame the other.

They were very wrong. FEMA and Bush Jr did more or less everything right while Nagin... not so much.

I should note that the fact @ShadowArxxy is the one defending the Bush administration and FEMA's response, when she's much more on the progressive left than almost anyone here on every issue except gun control and free speech should tell you a LOT about how badly Louisiana and New Orleans fucked up their response.

That said, FEMA's response to Helene has been less than impressive; however, some of that does actually trace back to State fuck ups, for instance, Tennessee's original disaster declaration (which was then used by the President to authorize FEMA) left off multiple impacted counties, including Greene county. Tennessee later amended their declaration to include those counties, as did the Feds, but that was an additional two day delay that slowed the response for the impacted counties. Fortunately here in Greene county our local governments and community rallied remarkably well and came together to handle things on their own, but it did leave a bitter taste in our mouth that we got overlooked like that.

Interesting bit to this hurricane is that it managed to make it far enough inland to down trees and powerlines in Indianapolis.

They don't really worry about hurricanes there, really ever from I've heard, and this is a first for most everyone living there.

In an area that has had a LOT of water sitting, you don't know if a place nearby was concrete or not.
If they didn't see one landing.on a field isn't always a good idea after such major flooding has been happening. The wheels will sink like crazy

Kind of hard to land in an area that is already full of objects. This is why I keep asking you where he was going to land.
