Carrot of Truth

So just verified the beer I typically drink, Shiner Bock, does not contain soy.

"Thank you for reaching out to us. None of our products contain soy. Thank you for supporting the Spoetzl Brewery.

Best regards,

A lot stuff claims not to have soy or soy byproducts but they do. I have had enough allergic reactions to completely lose trust in American beers. Sometimes it'll be "manufactured on equipment that may have soy or dairy" other times it'll be soy mixed in with the wheat or soybean oil. Thanks to lobbying back under Clinton they classified soybean oil as a non allergen so they don't have to state it on labels. FYI it is a fucking allergen and it not being one is a lie.

Yup, around here we have warnings even for potential traces.

That's fair.

It is Bud Light.
Alright, so I hadn't drank in 6 years and won't again.

But bud light wasn't that bad. It's fun to shit on them, because "American beer sucks lolololol" but it's just a meme beer. It's fun to hate just like Nickleback or Friends or anything else popular.

I mean, if you're looking for a good, full flavored craft beer, it's piss water.

But if you're looking for something easy to drink with a light flavor? It fits the bill.

I had my fancy craft beers moods, and I had my cheap beer moods. Bud Light was a good choice because it's cheap and palatable. It's by no means great, but it was inoffensive and easy to drink, and that's where budweiser wins.

That said, plenty pf competitors fit that bill, too.

And that's the whole point of these mass produced beers. Inoffensive taste, cheap. Gets yah drunk.

All they had to do was stay politically neutral and they'd go on forever as the country's biggest brand.

Honestly, I was more amused by the Tiktokker visibly grimacing in distaste and nearly spitting it out before declaring "So good" than anything else. Very obviously trying to show support for a product they don't actually use, entirely for political reasons. I won't help, that demographic doesn't drink beer and the shilling is only pushing away the actual beer-drinking demographic.

One thing that I don't think has been touched on much is how surprising this entire debacle is, because Budweiser has a long history of outstanding advertising campaigns and entertaining commercials. Spuds McKenzie, the Clydesdales, the Budweiser frogs, the chameleons, real men of genius, etc. I'm guessing the geniuses behind that long string of pure success were replaced by people with the right political views because it's straight-up weird to see a brand that's been slamming down one epic win after another for fifty years straight make this kind of misstep.
