Business & Finance Great Bud Light Embargo of 2023

American beer is shit anyways. It’s a pale imitation of European alchohol.
That's such an outdated misconception.

What you're experiencing overseas is our mass produced garbage that gets exported.

The US has an absolutely thriving microbrew culture, tons of variety and varying quality. Some is garbage, some is as good as or better than any foreign beer.

I am six years sober, but I can say this with confidence as someone who has done two "world tour of beers," and kept a taste journal of 300 different beers.

American mass produced beer is shit. The right American micro brews are some of the best beer on the planet.

I appreciated lots of foreign beers too. I am not saying America Is all around better. I AM saying that the idea that American beer is shit and foreign beer is better is just a myth.

Get woke go broke indeed is not a thing. The actual phenomenon that occasionally overlaps and makes people think it might be is Roll Left and Die.

When a company or brand or whatever is failing, leftist marketing types will have the idea that going further left will somehow save them. It will not, only exacerbating the original problem, which marketing types will interpret as them not going left hard or fast enough, cycling to accelerated collapse. The leftist AB VP of Marketing straight up laid this out, Bud Light was going through a long decline, so she thought going trans would rescue it.

Well the thing with budweiser is that the lefty types weren't drinking it much in the first place.

Their primary demographic is the exact people who would get pissed off by a trans person on a can.

And the people they were trying to appease aren't going to buy their product anyways.

So they're losing a lot of business.

I suspect they were trying to pull in customers from a different demographic, but that failed abysmally, while also pushing out a ton of people from their primary demographic.

Most brands can go woke and get away with it. They don't seem to be one of them.

Wasn't bud lite really big with hipsters a few years back? I don't know if that was a fad, or even if they were a real demographic.

I almost wonder if this was either an ill-conceived attempt at growing their audience, or to try to win hearts and minds, so to speak, from their actual audience, and they just took it for granted that they were the most popular beer and that their audience would always be there.

Budweiser's made a statement on the issue.

Nobody is impressed with this limp-wristed response so far. Predictions are generally running that this will trigger the lefties for not affirming the trans side, and it's not remotely enough to satisfy the right.

15 "I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.

Quoted the same tweet both times.

Yeah, you're right in that he's trying to say something that will make no-one upset, but seems quite counterproductive.

Anheuser-Busch CEO Brenden Whitworth has issued a statement on the recent controversy.

As the CEO of a company founded in America's heartland more than 165 years ago, I am responsible for ensuring every consumer feels proud of the beer we brew.

We're honored to be part of the fabric of this country. Anheuser-Busch employs more than 18,000 people and our independent distributors employ an additional 47,000 valued colleagues. We have thousands of partners, millions of fans and a proud history supporting our communities, military, first responders, sports fans and hard-working Americans everywhere.

We never intended to be part of a discussion that divides people. We are in the business of bringing people together over a beer.

My time serving this country taught me the importance of accountability and the values upon which America was founded: freedom, hard work and respect for one another. As CEO of Anheuser-Busch, I am focused on building and protecting our remarkable history and heritage.

I care deeply about this country, this company, our brands and our partners. I spend much of my time traveling across America, listening to and learning from our customers, distributors and others.

Moving forward, I will continue to work tirelessly to bring great beers to consumers across our nation.

Didn't see anything resembling an apology or corrective behaviors or actions to be taken in the future. Sad.

Anyways Donald Trump Jr stated that MAGA Conservatives should end the boycott because although the company fucked up with Dylan Mulvaney, they lean Conservative more then Liberal.

I think we've just been given an example of how that is not longer the case. And while their actual consumer base does lean conservative, has that ever stopped any of these companies from going woke though? Just look at the NFL. During the early 2000s they did everything they could to court the "'Merca!" crowd only to stil turn around and support BLM.

I hope people use this as an excuse to try different types of beer. Probably not going to happen, though.
