Creative Assembly's Hyenas, a multiplayer arena shooter released about five years after the peak of such gaming, was cancelled a few weeks before it's intended release.

Creative Assembly's parent company Sega is this announcing a projected loss of about $100 million dollars this fiscal year due to the sink cost of that game and likely this'll also really in significant layoffs at Creative Assembly and the cancellation of other projects still in development including Total War content since Sega apparently will be focusing on their studio for a significant reduction of the incurred fixed costs.

That's terrible news for the rumoured Alien: Isolation sequel, if it's being kicked about.

As for Total War... Meh, it's basically become like Fifa, Call of Duty, or Halo by this point -- Same repetitive shit, different skin.

Seems like a classic case of management with no idea about how their field works being so greedy that they end up with less money than they would if they weren't.
Who the hell thought it's a good idea to bet the company's financial future on... a flavor of the month cashgrab in a genre that they have no experience making games in and that they were predictably so slow with that now the genre is less popular and has massive competition?
They could have forayed into tactical RPGs to not rely just on TW, they could have made their own fantasy total war not reliant on expensive Warhammer licensing, get their naval warfare system in order (they had few very promising tries with that), or they could have done the most expected thing; working on getting TW series to handle more modern settings with all the possibilities that opens (WW1, WW2, Wild West, post apocalypse, licensed or not).
But no, they had to do something almost as ridiculous as deciding to go with mobile games.

Eh. TW àt leàst tries to upgràde or chànge their product & not copy pàste.
Never got into that series ,but I think they sorta made mainstream the strategic, turn based world map.

In any case, I expect for a Total War: Kitchen Sink to come out at some point, given that they have done everything from Rome to Warhammer.

In related news, I am having quite a bit of fun with Phantom Liberty, just offed the Chimera.

There better be an ending where V gets with azn netrunner waifu!

I thought the trailer for Hyenas was lacking narration, so I added some.

Zoomer shooter, yeah, sounds like the right label for a game that is total garbage.
From what I've seen of it, it looks like the main characters are typical Zoomer... well, stereotypes -- right down to the weird/flashy colouring and cartoony art-styles.

Oh, and the fashion/accessories.

Dunno what the fuck CA were thinking, really.

So I have been on a xenoverse 2 kick for a bit. I have encountered the boss of a gang known as NUTZ. OK. Beat up a goon squad that is way harder than it should be because they actually work together. beat the mid boss easy. and now I Face my fated enemy. A male majin. Charcoal grey. with pink lips. Named Barack. Barack is the leader of the NUTZ gang. I am dying of laughter here. I know it is a dumb internet joke. I still love it.

Edit: I also love the Namekian who works the lettuce patch named Nimaga. he is great. picks crops on the cheap. leaves me some to feed the 7 baby majins. this game is silly fun.

Both Arch and RGE covered this game, looks like SEGA is really, really pissed at CA for this shit.

EU court rejects Valve appeal against €1.6 million fine for 'geo-blocking' Steam games, says policy existed to protect publisher royalties and 'the margins earned by Valve' | PC Gamer
Tl;dr?

VALVE tried to argue in favor of geoblocking to a degree, washing its hand of the said geoblocking as not their fault, the EU organ that they were involved with in this case found they argued their side very poorly and their evidence was clear that it did restrict some users in a way that was against customers or potential costumers and rejected their appeal as a consequence.
