Fuck Valve for forcing everyone playing CS:GO to "upgrade" to a half-baked CS 2.

Buggy, uglier, with lots of functionality missing, shittier UI, and my preferred play mode being removed.

Fuck VALVE!

EU court rejects Valve appeal against €1.6 million fine for 'geo-blocking' Steam games, says policy existed to protect publisher royalties and 'the margins earned by Valve' | PC Gamer
One stupid/evil fighting another.

I don't know about the rest, but it's objectively not uglier.

... why didn't they sue the publishers? They're the ones that control that shit. Governments do too, like germany banning games.

Well to me there is zero benefit to any of the visual changes.
I have been playing this since CS 1.5, when it was still a HL 1 mod.

The new thing is dogshit.

I mean, GO was crappy, too, but manageable.

Fuckwits don't get that the actual fanbase does not want a new game, just the same old game with better graphics.

Edit: But don't just take my word for it!!!

And here.

Graphics? Fuck graphics, nowadays an idiot with unreal engine can make something visually impressive with stock assets.

Remind me, isn't Minecraft still popular, and still the game that made something like billions in sales, and it has graphics that make OG Quake and HL look good by comparison?

I mean it is anti-costumer behaviour when you buy one thing in a country just to not work in another...because reasons.

Also not really the fault of Steam.

Good for you.

You contradict yourself here.

Also those people did something very wrong if they're lagging with a damn 3070. maybe they should use a CPU not from the mid 2000s.

No, I am not, keep your tism in check, the graphics do not matter, but I won't mind an update, however, it is not a deal breaker for me.

Ultimately I want an actually playable game with the features and usability of the old ones.

Occasional graphics facelifts are a nice to have, not essential.

He isn't really contradicting himself. His point is that if you can get away with improving graphics without hurting the original feel and intention of the game, way to go! (RE4 HD pack, for example)

But designing a game around it's graphics is fundamentally flawed, and if you stray too far, you ruin the whole package. (Most 'remasters' for comparison)

They did this, like... the most improved thing in CS2 is just lighting. They took the same changes they made for Half Life: Alyx and applied them to Counter Strike, and you can't say HL:A doesn't look like a Half Life game.

1) I do not give a shit about VR.
2) The camera angles, colors, aspect all seem off.
3) Fuck all that shit, I want my buy wheel and my team deathwatch and the old, functional UI in general.
4) How the hell do you know, considering you do not play it as per your previous comment?

1) I do not give a shit about VR.

And CS2 isn't VR so... I was talking about art style and lighting, duh.

2) The camera angles, colors, aspect all seem off.

Colors are fine? They're brighter, but that's a result of there being more light and GI in general. I'm... going to need a little more info on what you mean by "aspect" though, because if you mean aspect ratio then... that's controlled by the monitor?

For camera angles, did you check your FOC setting to ensure that's set right?

4) How the hell do you know, considering you do not play it as per your previous comment?

Because it uses the same engine and I saw the breakdowns of the visual changes that Valve and others have put out.

Whatever, Alyx or whatever is crap, a here today gone tomorrow one trick pony VR bling garbage no one will remember.

Nope, the color scheme was different and the hues were as well, take a look at some old screenshots or videos of older CS.

In any case, as I told you already, that is irrelevant next to the changes in the actual FUNCTIONALITY of the game.
For camera angles, did you check your FOC setting to ensure that's set right?
Dunno what that is, don't care, never had to change it before.
Because it uses the same engine and I saw the breakdowns of the visual changes that Valve and others have put out.
So you admit you have no idea what is going on, K.

Peak.

It's also because they were able to portray core gameplay mechanics and aspects of the combat while keeping with the synced animation.

I'm reminded of one of the most simple rules AVGN made for gaming.
"What's the most important part of a video game? BEING ABLE TO FUCKING PLAY IT"
VR is inherently flawed. VR titles of famous franchises even more flawed.

Exactly, it is a gimmick, I tried that shit once and it was meh.

The interface is not there, and I hate those stupid headsets.

When they make a proper neural interface, then it might work.

The funny thing is that VR-controls was tested in the 90's with Trespasser, and honestly I think it's more charming when it's linked to M+K, not your hands.
