Honestly, given how pissed the Republicans on the Senate may be over Kavanaugh, I think they may just forgo the hearings and go to a straight vote.
It very much seems like that is what is going to happen.

McConnell and others aren't going to let the Dems pull another circus like they did with Kavanaugh, not when they think they have the votes to get a floor vote through already.

Nah, there is too much political value in Harris being on Judiciary.

Without hearings it becomes a story of more norm breaking, the media spinning it hard against Republicans, and lets Biden/Harris try to refocus the campaign on something besides SCOTUS.

With hearings you guarantee full media coverage of the event and are tieing Harris down for the duration of the hearings. If she continues to campaign and leaves DC then she gets tarred as not caring about the Supreme Court and if she does show up for the hearings then she is in a situation where Graham controls her time and she is (somewhat) limited by Senate rules. She also didn't come off that well in the Kavanaugh hearings and doesn't really do well at these kinds of things.

If Barrett is the nominee then Harris also may well attack her on religious grounds, and that will be off putting to a number of voters.

The vote really should be before election day (personally I would try and force it November 1st), but the Republicans should try and drag everything else out to that point and force as much media attention on SCOTUS as possible.

Republicans, be it Trump or House/Senate races, can't win on Covid and don't really have time to make the riots a big enough issue; not with everything tied up in the topic and Covid. They can win on the Supreme Court though; Republican judicial positions are more popular (especially in battleground states) than Democrat ones, forcing Biden to get into specifics can only hurt him, and every time court packing gets brought up it hurts the Democrats (anyone in favor of it was already voting Dem).

The Republicans need to convince the majority of the voters in several states that they fear a Biden Presidency/ Democrat control of the Senate more than they dislike Trump. The best way to do that is to make it SCOTUS all day, every day, and do everything you can as Republicans to enrage the progressives and the media into "the sky is falling" talk. The asshole is preferable to the nut job and since no one thinks Trump isn't an asshole; the Republicans have to frame the Democrats as nut jobs.

Are there that many voters who will vote based on this, when people like me only get our political news from the big three news organizations and online forums, and most don't get it from the later

By the way where the hell are the debates. Seriously we should have had at least one by now if Biden had a spine

It would be fascinating if they each had to take a drug test right before the debate to see what they are both on.

Trumps probably on a couple things just due to his age.

But Biden would probably have a insane cocktail of stuff to keep him coherent for the whole debate.
