Was gonna put this in the Excellence in Shitlording thread, but it's probably better here. 🤣

I do love how this whole mess clearly shows the utter lack of foresight by everyone in power. Everyone here looked at RGB, who was visibly decaying right before their eyes, looked at several of the other justices that are nearly as old, and said to themselves "Yes, I should stake out a firm, absolute position on this issue, there's no way it could ever possibly come around and bite me in the ass a few years from now." Even McConnell, who's stated position is technically not contradictory with his current stance, is still having a hard time justifying his actions, and he at least has that excuse, unlike those jokers, or Graham.

Idiots, the lot of them.

Edit: Oh, I almost forgot. Right after the election, the democrats filibustered Trunps first nominee, in an astonishingly short-sighted temper tantrum. Because it gave McConnell a 100% justified chance to nuke the filibuster for SC seats, which really turned out badly for them in 2018 when they actually had a reason (or at least, less transparently fake reason) to filibuster and couldn't.

If someone writing a political thriller has his antagonists act this stupid and self destructive, people would call him a lazy hack.

the average age of these judges is like mid 60s if this is how they react to RBG's death how will they react 20 years from now when nearly all of these guys are pushing daises?

Hopefully people will have calmed down by then, but even if they don't, stotomoyor and Kagen don't have anything close to RBG's cultist following.

Certain people are still unused to a world where decentralized media no longer carries their water universally. Ain't fair coverage a bitch?

Was the ricin in the letter a response to filling the seat? They got someone said to be involved in it.
Let's be fair, this is not the first time Trump's been mailed Ricin. Nor Obama or Bush now that I think about it. It probably is just a random nut.

It shows humans being human. Despite something being in our best interest we fail to act a lot.
Really the person to blame here is RBG.
All she had to do was retire when Obama had the senate. She could have went to him and Schumer to make her wishes known for a successor. They would have most likely honored it or given it strong consideration.
It would have preserved her work on the court. Instead she tried to hang on.
I bet thinking Hillary would get to replace her and it could be some moment or she was just being selfish by holding on to power.
Now a man who represents everything she hates gets to pick her successor and the court alignment will be against her politics for a generation.

Also if she really told her granddaughter to say what is claimed to be her wishes and it wasn’t just made up. She became a petty person.
Because of anyone she would know it wouldn’t happen.
The Republican senate would get voted out in mass if they passed this over.
The court packing nonsense would get the Dems voted out next election. I don’t see moderate dem senators backing that at all.

What moderate Democrat senators do you see? Because I haven't heard of any lately.

I think they're afraid that if they can't rely on their apparent blackmail on Roberts to achieve deadlock a Republican appointed court will flip the script on them and decide as they've wanted for years that certain political positions are tantamount to incitement to violence, but that it would be inciting actual riots that would get the axe rather than "hate speech."

Remember, congress may pass no ex post facto law, but when judges legislate from the bench it's always ex post facto. Because they remember. That was their entire playbook for most of the second half of the 20th century.

I see numerous ones. kyrsten sinema, whose record we can see from the house, for instance is a moderate.
According to National Journal's 2013 Vote Ratings, her votes place her near the center of their liberal-conservativescale.[105] The National Journal gave her a composite ideology score of 57% liberal and 43% conservative.[106] According to the Bipartisan Index created by The Lugar Center and the McCourt School of Public Policy, Sinema was the sixth most bipartisan member of the U.S. House of Representatives during the first session of the 115th United States Congress.[107] She has cited U.S. Senator Joe Manchin, a Democrat from West Virginia, as a role model.[16]
So is Joe Manchin. If we are going to set around pretend that there are no moderate Democrats then we are acting like fools.
There is no blackmail on Roberts. He’s just right of center and more concerned with preserving the image of the court.
Trying to add more judges won’t play well in the rust belt, the south, Florida and most of the country. Just like AOC would lose if she tried to run for President. What plays well in New York and LA is a loser elsewhere.

HAHAHAHA!!!... oh boy, how do these people function day to day without breaking down in hysterics?

Hey Darlene, do you remember all those times that the racist misogynistic fascists told you that it was a very dangerous thing to allow courts to control so much of public policy? Do you remember mocking us when we said that it wasn’t a good sign that nine unelected people could just make overnight sweeping change in the legal framework of our society? How we warned that concentrating power like that could never have a good result? I’m sure you recall laughing at us and smugly sipping your box wine in celebration of the phenomenon because you were getting what you wanted.

Now, I'm not heartless. In saner times, I’d be dismayed by the current situation. But after years of being ignored, called names, and vilified for predicting precisely this situation, my enthusiasm for these very circumstances we see today rivals on the erotic. Im going to enjoy watching all of you see everything you have crafted your tiny, selfish, shallow little locust-identities around turn to ash, and my only regret is that it can’t happen faster. Any government big enough to give you infanticide-on-demand at the stroke of a pen is also big enough to take it away just as quickly—and I couldn’t be happier to see it happen.

In summary, eat shit Darlene. Enjoy your wine, while you can.

Fill the seat. Just fill it.

What makes them not do it when they're in power if they don't do it?

Reeeing about not being able to kill their kid? This is going to be a lot of misery porn for people to collect and wank off to.

What they're actually saying: let us appoint a leftist judge, or we'll pack the court to make it leftist anyways!

Yeah....no. get fucked.

Trump needs to nominate someone and the Senate needs to confirm. It's absolutely vital at this point.

This election will be contended regardless of who wins, and will more than likely go to the courts, and we do NOT want a supreme court with only 8 judges when this happens.

Fuck me. With social media the fetishes will reach peak jerk off material over salt. Forget salt like posting and tweeting how you're miserable and crying and shit but this shit where young stupid people post on tiktok like that blonde girl? Absolute fap material right there.

There are people stupid enough to offer exclusives on only fans if they don't vote for Trump.
