The democrats were prepared for 30 years of dominance, and to be fair with their old coalition they could have pulled that off. Then a political relinment happened and screwed that up entirely. No one saw Trump barging in or thought that Hilary could fuck that election up. Then they went from over reaction to over reaction.

Now activists have lost their minds, the far left has been rioting in the streets for months and she has to deal with the knowlege that we have 2 years here in Cali before the mass retirement of a generation of public workers with incredibly generous pension owners happens when the states already heavily in the red.

The one and only reason she is tolerated here in California is because her job is to bail us out when that day comes. Ideally turning to a democratic president to get a bail out. unideally she will be forced to go hat in hand to Trump to either get the bail out or permission for a bankrupcy, last option if that fails is a painful economic collapse.

My guess is that she's just tossing things out to sound tough. This was probably the worst thing that could have happened to them. A SCOTUS appointment that will send the far left into a shrieking fit while Trump racks up points on his side? Biden/Harris was going to be an uphill battle this year, but losing another SCOTUS seat to the Republicans is going to rob the leftists of one of the few good reasons they had to support the Dems. Because no matter what they do, they can't stop the Republicans from putting a new SCOTUS on the bench.

That said, said nominee is probably going to be a moderate whose right leaning or a moderate right leaning Republican. Choosing a woman was also a good move; you won't get far with sexual allegations against a woman. Anything far right will probably scare the moderates to swinging back to voting the other way.

Even if they were stupid enough to waste their time doing so, it wouldn't work. Women tend to get more of a pass on sexual misconduct because women are simply not as threatening to the public as men are. It's biological. Women are the general deciders of who gets to pass on their genetic DNA. Therefore, from a biological perspective, all a woman did was "choose" to let someone pass it on. Where as with men, it's "stolen". The exception is children or otherwise ethnic/racial sexual violence.
