Man, this brings me back to the ending of Autumn Morning ... where I had them be forced to use their technology and scientific knowledge to help the wasteland (well, a section of it, but still) and all the guys behind the super mutant and synth infiltration programs were publicly executed.

Honestly, that's more of a punishment to the Institute than blowing them up.

Followed up with having to live with the Wastelanders they look down on so much

With Fallout 76 falling apart (although it might be because of Zanimax, the company Bethesda created to keep themselves from going overbudget, becoming just another Khorne Berzerker of Capitalism), the situation is simply insane.

[sigh] It also doesn't help that apparently Zanimax won't allow Bethesda to 'diversify' the IP to include the good old Impressions Games-style (i.e. Pharoah, Emperor, Children of the Nile, Caesar, and that odd Greek game and any expansions thereof) games.

Yeah. Bethesda was riding high on fan favour in 2014ish. Then they started getting greedier and greedier and this is the epitome of them joining the likes of EA, Ubisoft, etc...

I've been to seminars of sorts, when it comes to companies that manage to last a century, there comes a sort of feeling of permanence

Thing is, while business owners may change hands, the one thing that needs to be maintained is a good and efficient "culture" or attitude that employees from top to bottom mostly hold

There are things that are surprisingly easy to fix and point out, but without a proper culture, odds are people will just let it be

Eh, that isn't entirely the case. Bethesda is getting forced to be like EA Ubisoft, and Co via Zanimax (the company that Bethesda created to basically manage projects and project money), not going down that path of their entire free will.

Some people are thinking that Bethesda is doing an accelerationist gig to ruin Zanimax or something. :\

well, there's another, slightly more plausible answer,
tl:dr: there an investment firm called providence equity that owns 25%-50% of zenimax
and they're looking to get out of the very cyclic nature of video game revenue,
they want a steadier, more predictable revenue steam, even if it's less valuable than before so that's lead them to pull these stunts

Late-stage capitalism at its finest...

Has anyone made a fanfic of the TSC from a mod on fallout 3?, sounds like that would be a cool idea.

So, what everyone's thoughts on the new creation club stuff for 4?

A lot of them seem a bit dubious this time, custom vault suits have been on nexus forever, and the return to the capital wasteland was both a massively disappointmenting and uninteresting story, and offered no items of real value or use, and while the story of the second battle of quincy was potentially interesting, the typical storytelling method of creation club content hobbled it and power armor paint jobs aren't all that great a reward.

On the other hand, the Tesla cannon and new combat rifle are apparently good. New weapons seem to be the one area where the creation club is consistently worthwhile.

I like that they added the tesla cannon because nobody made a mod for it since the game has been out.

What other genres could done with Fallout? I personally think that Strategy, Tactical in the style of Warcraft, and FPS are possible, but what else could you do? Maybe a driving simulation where you are tasked with actually delivering mail and braving the wasteland with a vehicle you can modify and improve on similiar to the Mad Max game?

That wouldn't go well with a good portion of the base. It would probably be worse than what happened with FO3 and FO4 with those idiots.

A city builder set in Fallout would be absolutely perfect for expanding the franchise but that would get backlash like you wouldn't believe. I swear, Fallout's fandom can be as bad as Front Missions in the 'there are no other genres' bullshit.

A city builder where you have to constantly defend your settlement from enemies, build defenses and maybe establish outside trade, build your own infrastructure, make your own resources and send people out on quests

I think something similar is done with that iPhone app game

Sounds like Surviving the Aftermath. Which I've dabbled in and is a lot of fun, even if it's still early in it's development.

For the Creation Club content, I generally only like stuff that added furniture. I'm using the Weapons Extended mod from Nexus, which adds just about every gun imaginable, from Star Trek phasers to WWII bolt action rifles.

Part of the reason I like furniture packs is because they allow for more stuff with Sim Settlements, which is an amazing mod.

Really? I'd have thought it would have been added pretty soon, it's been a fan favorite weapon for years.

But it won't go over well by the fans. :( It doesn't help that, as a genre, city-building is kind of dead.
