Quest Deep Periphery Quest (Battletech Sandbox Empire Builder)

Quick question @LordSunhawk despite them not being fully worked up can we use the 3 working up combat dropships due to the desperate circumstances albeit at a cost of reduced combat effectiveness?

Only active units are available, the 3 working up units are not active, therefore they are not available.

Available force summary (if you want details on quality, etc; look in the thing I linked in my previous post):

5 Defiant Assault Dropships

2 Enterprise Exploration dropships
2 Harris Dropships
1 Haskell Dropship
-Each of these can carry one ASF flight each

EDIT: Confederate dropship
-Can carry half an ASF unit

8 Falcon Training ASF
20 Roc Dropper Choppers
17 Gyrfalcon Interceptors
23 Eagle dogfighters
24 Goshawk ASF (multirole, generally used as a fast support to Eagle or Roc)

Should also have the Confederate Dropship, for all the use it is, right?

I think we'll win thanks to our larger ASF force and better technology but I suspect we'll be either loosing somewhere between 30% to 60% of our ASF forces(and a good chunk of the pilots of said ASFs to either death or being too wounded to fly again)to either direct losses or TCLs depending on the dice rolls and our dropship fleet will take fearsome losses. To be quite frank we might loss Than and/or her wife as well since they're in the line of fire. In other words once we win it's time to raise taxes and really really ramp up ASF and dropship production and the training of their crews and support personnel

Okay, as I've pointed out in the past in other threads and quests, I am a Muse by luck and devotion. Tear it apart, make it better, I get ideas, you make them better. Don't expect epics or masterworks, but be inspired by my feeble beginnings, please.

[X] Screw You at the Drive-Thru
-[X] 1st Assault Squadron
--[X] Target and atttrit the Droppers directly, starting with the Aqueduct, moving on to the Overlords, and then batting cleanup on the Leopards that remain.
-[X] Explorer Squadron
--[X] Slingshot on the elliptical to go after the Drac JumpShips. Capture and/or kill as needed.
-[X] ASF Units
--[X] Layered depolyment of a sphere of defense of mutually supporting units Two elements of screening forces to cover Defiant Squadron's run.
-[X]Medium Speed Intercept, then flip and burn to dog the enemy tail once they get through the first engagement. No rest.
-[X] Confederate
--[X] Standby for emergency evacuation protocol.

Hmmm a good plan but perhaps we can use the Rocs and Defiants in a combined attack run to properly devaste the Dracs. After all the Rocs are built to kill dropships.

Are you employing all ASF's with a close range intercept for this? otherwise your sending out about 5-8 dropships and ~40 ASF's against an enemy force of 50 Dropships and 170+ ASF's.

I do not see that ending well.

Also the dog soldier comment comes across as a bit too respectful, both to the guy leading the attack and the Dragon in general imo.

Worth noting: All ASF not carried by a dropship are restricted to the Area of Operations around Griffin's Roost - only dropships have the fuel to make a deep-space intercept.

Alternate plan, going for the idea that we'll have the advantage on high-speed intercepts because Sarah. Stealing much of the structure for this from Wageslave, without shame.
[x] After first intercept:"Your presence here proves the Dragon has no honor. If you do not break off from your course, you will no longer have JumpShips, either."

Not really happy with this, but putting this up for comment before sleep. Idea is that the Defiants go for an intercept of the Drac Fleetball while threatening their jumpships, and take out their refuelling capability, since that many ASFs have to drink a lot of fuel. The second group is going to try and actually capture the jumpers, and the Harrises are ... not doing anything, since 8 Eagles won't really do much, and then they would likely not be able to catch up.

Edit: creating a new plan which I like better.

Send the working up dropships after the jumpships, even as a feint the Dragorats have to take it seriously.
May help peel off some dragorat forces

As for this war, it is to the hilt time, recall all prior military, time to issue explosives and turn every culvert into an IED.

If the Dragorats win the lives of the worlds people are forever changed. Time to pull the nukes out.

I'd suggest that the Defiants focus on just the Aqueduct on the early intercept, just making a single high-speed pass to minimise their exposure to enemy fire before they punch through the formation. Then have them trail the Drac formation trying to lure them into launching ASFs against them, burning more of their remaining fuel, before we have the Defiants join up with our ASFs and engaging the racs over Griffon's Roost.

Do we actually have nukes in store? If not, we should probably disperse our remaining suitcase nukes and position them in a way that'll allow us to quickly bring them up against any possible main Drac landing.
