We'd also get whatever they are working on at the time. If we get lucky they might have an Achilles or Leopard-CV nearly done that we can give to the Home Guard. Also, LordSunhawk can we quickly produce any Sabres with the factories we captured for the home guard? Did we salvage any Sabres from the battle in orbit or other repairable enemy equipment on the ground?
yeah how about no to turning over any captured dropships or ASFs to the Home Army for at least several years. One doesn't crew a dropship or pilot a ASF effectively or safely without a considerable amount of training which I bet basically no one in the Home Army has

Yeah this is a good idea, you can give a rookie a mech and not have anything explode because their is 1001 systems in place to keep it upright. Putting someone with no training in a cockpit means they have none of that and small mistake turns you into a lawn dart.

This should be interesting, in the Chinese sense of the term. I do hope that Shogun Kurita isn't going to ask for Nowa Warszawa back.

[] Dig in and wait for reinforcements

I actually don't think that this is a good idea. While I agree that we shouldn't be looking to take additional land, we have all the room in the world to set operational tempo and control the battlespace, so why squander it?

[X] Go on an aggressive Raiding/Recon spree

I suggest this as an alternative. The DCMS forces on planet are too large to feasibly take on directly, but the nature of their industry and infrastructure necessitates that they will be spread out and the lack of dropship deployment on their end means they will be severely hampered in trying to respond and reinforce their units. This lets the AFGE ground units pick their fights and degrade DCMS units and military industry. We don't have the strength to take on the DCMS directly without catastrophic losses, but this? This we can do handily.

And yes, I did ask LordSunhawk about this in the Discord, and he provisionally approved, but it 'will be subject to interpretation and consideration.'

I'm unsure how this will work out given that the capital ship strength is staying back, but it's worth trying a recon-in-force, if nothing else. Its risky tactically, but won't effect operational realities on Nowa Warszawa unless it pulls away dropships from there and strategically we are building far more than is at risk in the scouting group.

I do not trust this Drac splinter faction, but we lose very little talking to them. If the Imperial want to make sure they can focus on the Dragon instead of fighting us, so much the better. We can determine to what degree we can trust them later.

[X] Go on an aggressive Raiding/Recon spree

Simply hiding on our continent is a bit too little, but whittling down forces as opposed to full offense might be the smarter choice while we build all our nice new units.

[X] Commence Operations to secure the remaining shipyards in the system via either capture or destruction.

I think we can probably get away with taking them instead of destroying, given disparity in aerospace abilities. But making sure they can't escape with them isn't a bad idea. I'm building a defense tower in the plan though, should help free up some defensive forces to go on limited offensives.

Turn 57 - And Arrogance Their Weakness

Nowa Warszawa

Reinforcements arrive, allowing your forces to be confident in holding their beachhead against any foreseeable counter attack. There is increasing partisan activity among the majority non-Polish civilian population, primarily sabotage, roadside bombs, and the like. Polish natives are also engaging in retaliatory attacks on non-Polish civilians, and violence between the groups is growing.

In the last week there have been 158 murders attributed to the violence, almost all the victims are civilians from the two groups. Attempts to mediate between them have so far failed, with at least one such meeting being bombed by radical Polish elements, killing three of our soldiers who were present. We have taken about a dozen casualties from snipers, believed to be non-Polish insurgents, possibly ISF embeds.

Curfews have been established and infantry forces are currently enforcing separation zones between the two populations, but the situation is highly volatile. The new Mechanized Regiments are finding themselves acting as military police as we attempt to keep things from boiling over.

It is noted that several dozen non-Polish civilians who had publicly advocated for calm were subsequently found dead despite enhanced security, mostly in bombings. Unfortunately in at least one case that bombing was perpetrated by a Home Army cell, who have been taken into custody after it was found they were engaging in numerous revenge attacks.

Funerals for the dead have proven to be highly prone to violence, requiring very heavy military police presence to keep things from erupting into riots. It is sadly expected that the situation will grow worse as more of the planet is liberated. We have two populations on this planet who absolutely hate and despise each other. This is not going to end cleanly.

Interestingly, contrary to expectations there have been no propaganda transmissions from the Drac Palace, although the Otomo are confirmed to be present. No threats, no demands, no challenges, complete silence. There have been no actual attempts at a counter attack, just units digging in in defensive works, although the Dracs make a point of setting up their defensive lines in areas with large numbers of civilians, making it very… challenging… to deal with from orbit. After all, who wants to fire sub-cap weapons at a playground where there are kids playing around the dug in enemy tanks?

In orbit things are cleaner, the reinforcements from home have arrived and Thanh leads a fast task force centered around Bainbridges off to strike at the remaining shipyards. There is minimal resistance, but both yards self-destruct in nuclear detonations as she closes on them. Surrounding habitats and stations also detonate as their own self-destructs activate, obviously the result of fanatical ISF agents.

You now have complete control of system space.

How do you handle the situation?
[]Favor the Poles and crush the Drac civilians ruthlessly
[]Attempt to mediate between both sides and keep the peace

Griffon

You decide to allow the K-1 to land on Griffin’s Roost, although you are most certainly not present at the drop port for fear of this being a suicide attack.

It isn’t, but perhaps far more surprising.

There are two occupants in the shuttle, the pilot and one other who remains aboard, so you don’t know who they are. But the pilot, judging by the voice in the coms, disembarks. Not dressed in a flight suit or anything practical like that, but rather in an incredibly formal kimono, with all of the traditional accoutrements of a samurai at a formal occasion, everything done perfectly, not a single hair out of place… and very obviously Siriwan Kurita herself, come to conduct the negotiations on her own in complete defiance of expected behavior.

This is a surprise.

It remains to be seen what kind of surprise.

What posture do you take in the negotiations?

[]Aggressive - the Dracs are your enemies, first and last, and you trust her not at all
[]Formal - She has chosen to embrace formality, do the same, and see what comes of it

Yikes. We came here to liberate, but it looks like we might have to become occupiers if we don't want the planet to tear itself apart.

Will also really suck if we have to pick a side between the Polish and the non-polish. The non-polish population is larger, but siding with them would really hurt our relations with the Polish in the Griffon system, and I'm predisposed toward them.

How long ago was it that the non-polish immigrant population became the majority? If it was more than 3 or 4 decades... then yikes. If less than that, then I think they could be moved to other worlds without too much hassle. Also, where do most of the immigrants come from? New Rasalhague? Or Killburough? IIRC the slave males from Killburough were castrated/sterilized and had been conditioned to be docile, so I doubt they would be aggressive enough to cause widespread violence like what is going on here. If these slaves came from New Rasalhague, perhaps we could offer/incentivize people to go back there.

As for the Drac civilians, we should reassure them that there is a Japanese population in Griffon and that they will be protected, and that the Dracs would be welcome to assimilate in there if they choose, but don't stir up trouble here or they will be locked up.

EDIT: on further thought, we could build more space colonies if we have nowhere else to put the displaced civilians and keeping them on the planet would cause too much trouble. I suppose we should probably wait and allow Nowa Warszawa to form a new civilian government and ask what they want done.

[X] Formal

Griffin's Roost doesn't take exception to Japanese culture. What it takes exception to is the specific brand of 'Japanese' that the Kurita's use as justification for their military aggression.
