'Climate Change' and the coming 'Climate Lockdown'

Fucking cunts in the Commons.

Oliver Cromwell said it better, back in 1653:
20 April 1653, London, England

It is high time for me to put an end to your sitting in this place,

which you have dishonored by your contempt of all virtue, and defiled by your practice of every vice.

Ye are a factious crew, and enemies to all good government.

Ye are a pack of mercenary wretches, and would like Esau sell your country for a mess of pottage, and like Judas betray your God for a few pieces of money.

Is there a single virtue now remaining amongst you? Is there one vice you do not possess?

Ye have no more religion than my horse. Gold is your God. Which of you have not bartered your conscience for bribes? Is there a man amongst you that has the least care for the good of the Commonwealth?

Ye sordid prostitutes have you not defiled this sacred place, and turned the Lord's temple into a den of thieves, by your immoral principles and wicked practices?

Ye are grown intolerably odious to the whole nation. You were deputed here by the people to get grievances redressed, are yourselves become the greatest grievance.

Your country therefore calls upon me to cleanse this Augean stable, by putting a final period to your iniquitous proceedings in this House; and which by God's help, and the strength he has given me, I am now come to do.

I command ye therefore, upon the peril of your lives, to depart immediately out of this place.

Go, get you out! Make haste! Ye venal slaves be gone! So! Take away that shining bauble there, and lock up the doors.

In the name of God, go!

Oliver Cromwell said it better, back in 1653:
Ah cromwell.
I still remember being taught in school:

> Cromwell was an evil madman who led a revolution and momentarily deposed the british crown, executing the king.
> His pure evil and unchecked madnessed so traumatized the british with his mass slaughter of innocents, that they quickly deposed him, reinstated the monarchy and never again sought to remove the royal family again to this day.

basically had to memorize the above in both highschool and college in USA.
that is all I really know about cromwell.

I got an A for regurgitating the official line.
but I get the feeling I missed out on some valuable knowledge of actual history.

The King at the time was a complete dick.
He got the French Treatment.
The guy/"hero" who basically replaced him and tried to force Republicanism on the UK was a religious nut that'd probably find the future US' original colonists great chums.
He quickly turned everyone against him.
He was eventually taken out because he became worse than the aforementioned King.
People begged the next royal-in-line to take back the Crown.
Monarchy has ruled ever since with basically a 90% approval rate from us.
Subsequently, Republicanism in the UK is viewed with disdain, disgust, and even outright hatred to this very day, and the fringe elements who support it, even at grassroots level, are considered social and political outcasts.

Well, except for the part where the crown is now decorative and the UK turned into a republic... and by now is ruled by oligarchs with control over media, speech, etc

How horrifying a nation can turn from an empire owning half the globe, ruling the seas with an iron fist.
To a nation where "You got a loicense for those plastic sporks?" is a legitimate question.

The Crown still does have influence in the government, but it's more soft power now. Additionally, the police and armed forces swear oaths to the King (almost wrote Queen there. sigh), not the government.

We're not a Republic, thank whatever Flying Spaghetti Monster may exist.

Unfortunately, you are correct that our Houses are basically compromised, just like how your politicians in America are. It's also resulted in the Average Joe and Jane (to use an American phrase) who were born here to basically look at our government structure as being a decrepit, corrupt cesspit needing a tear-down.

The "official line" generally does.

One short except from the above like - which has a lot of info.
As one of the generals on the parliamentary side in the English Civil Wars (1642–51) against Charles I, Oliver Cromwell helped overthrow the Stuart monarchy, and, as lord protector(1653–58), he raised England’s status once more to that of a leading European power from the decline it had gone through since the death of Elizabeth I.

From what I've been able to find, Cromwell's negative reputation is mostly a fabrication constructed posthumously by his enemies; made to keep anyone from getting any ideas about imitating him and trying to seize power from an abusive ruling class again. For example, he was never "taken out"; the man died when he was still in power, reportedly from sepsis. His body was exhumed years later though, once the monarchy was reestablished, to be posthumously executed via hanging; after which his head was cut off and put on display.

Not entirely true: his reforms were primarily religious-based, and even back then they were far too extreme for people (peasant and noble aiike). While his reputation may have been, ah, "enhanced" as you said, it was most definitely accurate.

The guy was just an extreme asshole than a mega extreme asshole, and it's suspected the sepsis was caused from an attack, but others think it was from chronic UTI's (possible, since hygiene back then was pretty bad, but I'm doubting that personally), IIRC.

Except as far as I can tell, his religious views weren't actually all that extreme for the time (Puritanism grew fairly popular during Charles the First's reign); and most of the people who condemned them saw him, for good reason, as a threat to their power. Also, some of said religious reforms (such as the bans and actions against Holy Days and Christ Masses) began long before Cromwell even had power.

His views actually fell more in-line (broadly) with the puritan "religious nut" faction who were on the Mayflower. They were... not popular both in the UK and Europe, to say the least.

People and nobles turning on him was only a matter of time, really.

And look where all the hate for Cromwell has gotten the Brits at this point; your nation is basically only an unsinkable aircraft carrier and sound stage for the US at this point; even the French have more international power now.

You gov isn't any more functional or less corrupt for having the monarchy and the clowns in Parliament.

I mean, yours is the nation outlawing silently praying outside abortion clinics and letting rape/grooming gangs run rampant.
