tl;dw: China being China.

Self-reliance? Yeah, no, it's just China stealing and reverse-engineering/laser-etching old Intel chips without the knowledge behind them, as always.

All those people who say that CCP-China aren't thieving bastards incapable of doing things on their own? I laugh at you.

This is nonsense “intellectual property” is the biggest meme. There is nothing wrong with reverse engineering and making your own version. Bitching about intellectual property “theft” is so dishonest you don’t own ideas you are just trying to maintain an artificial advantage. Unless you support paying China patents for gunpowder paper or compasses.

This is how you get BT style "blackboxing" of technology and\or ending all scientific cooperation and industrial technology trade between the inside and the outside of EU\NATO to a point of full export bans of everything less than 20 years old, and probably also going full Russia on scientists and engineers trying to sell out.
It would have some advantages (China and many other not exactly pro-West countries are the ones benefiting from it a lot), but that is the logical conclusion of getting rid of such concept.
Basically any country that cannot be trusted to not sell stuff out to China and keep criminals from doing so would have to be cut off from advanced technology imports from EU\US\Japan\Taiwan\SK. Take a long moment to think about the implications of that.

Sounds like commie talk.
And on the very last part.
They traded it to is during a tome when things were a lot diffrent.
Modern day it can truly destroy a countries whole economy if China just takes what they have and makes thier own.

I’m ok with that. We don’t have to trade with China if we don’t want to. But we already prevent other nations from acquiring advanced technologies. Also your restrictions won’t work because China isn’t copying advanced f15 fighters they are copying civilian stuff from the west. You can’t stop selling to civilians who will then smuggle it for larger profits.

Zach you don’t even know what communism is, again saying times were different is a cop out. It’s letting yourself get to a certain point and the. Changing the rules to favor yourself. Not just China but other developing nations do this stuff. Japan in Meiji time did it because if you are behind you have to catch up.

No we don't. We let them buy say technologies, and if you say that they should be allowed to reverse engineer anything they buy, the conclusion is that we shouldn't let them.
Yes, including the civilian technologies. All of them. Medical, industrial, computing, farming, transport, even as mundane as smartphones, everything.
It's only being slowly done regarding China, but if you got your wish in global terms, it would need to be done to everyone "outside of the club" and 10x more strictly.
Chipmaking equipment is not a F-15....

A nation would be incredibly foolish to NOT reverse engineer anything they buy. You can argue that if they buy highly advanced technologies that are patented they should not violate the patent for a while as it respects for treaties. But only a puppet nation would tolerate that forever. No nation is going to accept being an inferior for all time and never catching up, to try and match other powerful western nations. But if you want to black box your technology so that it can't be reversed engineered you can try to do that, I'm not sure if it's possible for everything but for highly advanced things that you actually want to be secret like weapons systems. But it would be prohibitively expensive to do that for every cellphone and other civilian technology.

Also much of what you are saying would only bite us in the ass also. Many idiots on the right bitch about Covid. Yet that only came about because of China's backwards ass wet markets and lack of medical technology. You again want your cake and to eat it too, if China is a poor shithole it will be a spawning point of disease, if you want it to not be a spawning pool of disease then it needs advanced medical technolgy, which will make it rich and powerful. And not dealing with China is a flat out non option, capitalism will not ignore such a large market.

Hence the end conclusion of such world - no sales of advanced technology, period. Hire services of western companies with said technologies in a limited manner at best, and that's it. If you are trying to argue that the West should go ultra-mercantilistic on the rest of the world, i think that's pretty extreme, but still better than the other extreme where the West pays for technologies to be developed and then everyone copies them cheaply and then outcompetes the industries of the West on pricing because they don't have to pay for the very expensive R&D.

And yet it is a disease pool anyway, despite being sold way more technology than it should.
Hence, close borders and don't sell them tech, problem solved. Hell, if you didn't sell them tech in the first place it wouldn't even be such a large market in the end.
If anyone complains, capitalism my ass, they are a traitor to national interests who want to let China reverse engineer technology that took crazy money to create in the first place.

I support mercantalism. Though one can argue then that we should just cut down on RD stop advancing, technological advancement is dangerous in regards towards humanity with things like AI and transhumanism that could wipe us out. The only technology advancement that would be good are medical things to help us live longer and space exploration to protect ourselves from asteroids.

It's not that bad again COVID was a meme people acting like it's the black death in one sentence, and a hoax on the other.

As for closing borders lol now who is being the commie.

And China being a big market has nothing to do with us "making them one" they were a big market in the fucking 1800's why do you think we opened them up to trade? A lot of people buying things is what we wanted. China has the largest population in the world that is what we wanted from them.

Stop advancing and do what? Wait for the CCP or their useful idiots to do it for us and then pull the hard mercantilism\military advantage\transhumanism\AI card on us, because they don't have such worrywart concerns or idealist leanings themselves?

Who is being the commie useful idiot by wanting open borders with the commies and their allies?

Oh they can buy things, but not advanced technology. Don't sell them chipmaking tech or even chips, rent them remote servers physically located in USA or France, then they can't reverse engineer shit. Likewise, don't sell them mining tech, refining tech, production tech, just at most half products and simple products not worth reverse engineering.

Oh please don’t bring up conspiracy shit with bio weapon labs.

It isn't conspiracy shit. Even leftists are starting to admit that it was the result of gain of function research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Ostensibly, to figure out how to better deal with coronaviruses, just that typical communist incompetence and corruption leaked the humanized virus instead.

A modern Chernobyl. They used the cheapest option.
