Russian Invasion of Ukraine 2022

One thing I'm noticing is that a lot of Russian Troops don't have the new Ratnik gear. What's up with that? I thought Ratnik integration was supposed to be at least 80% complete by 2021?

Edit: What I mean by Ratnik.

We are not actually seeing a lot of Russian troops footage, from what I’ve been given to understand their phones were seized before the start of offensive, lot of russian stuff on the internet is actually DNR/LDR, and since everyone involved in this use the same kit and look the same, it can get pretty confusing.
It’s that or the Russian are late. :/

The Russians are IMHO going for the quiet approach intentionally, because at the end they want to rub everyone's face into the difference between the lies of Zelenski and and the reality.
Also, I am sure they don;t want more juicy stuff, like Ukrainian biolab specifics, to leak out before they can use it to maximum advantage.

There is very little actual footage from Russian forces, while Novorussia forces have embedded journalists, so most of the footage is indeed from them and their gear can be summed up ''anything they can get''.

2) Do Ukrainians even have T-80s? Is their camo/paint pattern the same as Russia's?
Ukraine had several hundred T-80 mothballed and some in active service, but until 2014 they mostly used T-64, to keep the costs down. After 2014 they started taking them out of the mothballs and issuing them to tank companies of motorized and airmobile brigades (battalions of mechanized and armored brigades are still using variants of T-64). The problem is that due to dispersed nature of military manufacturing in Soviet Union, while one of the T-80 assembly plants was in Kharkov, many of the components were made outside modern day Ukraine, so only limited number of tanks could be returned to operational status, while others can be towed out and used as bait for Russian airstrikes/material for propaganda videos.
Both sides use similar paint for their vehicles, that's why Russians are using those big white Zs and Vs, while Ukrainians used big white II in 2014/15.

Probably the case.

Look, we all know this is theater. The Ukrainians, the Russians, the Americans, and the Europeans are all chewing on the scenery to paint the other as evil and wicked. We should all know by now what this is actually about and it's not about democracy or neo-nazis or bioweapons or power-hungry tyrants.

It's about the Western powers expanding their military power into a region that would grant them an immense strategic advantage over a former rival. And said rival, that being Russia, refusing to accept those conditions and using its military to address what it sees as a security concern.
They have American friendly countries all along thoer border. The day and age of needing to put missles in say Ukraine is over when you have planes like the B2 and the SSBNs. Where you can appear and disappear st whim and no need for land based ones anymore.
Basicslly what we havnt done in a long time.

but keep spreading the "Putin was self defense!" Russia covinved Ukraine to get rif of thier nukes specifically because they could not foght back if invaded.

One thing that is very important to realize.
How horrible city fighting us even if you dint care about killing innocents.
Because every nook, every cranny. Every building, every window, could have someone.
The more you shoot innocents the more people are likely to fight back and not be so nice should you surrender

Some new news and rumors from the Twitter sphere.

A short thread on how Russia has recently postulated the idea of deploying 16,000 Syrian/Middle Eastern volunteers to Ukraine and the potential effects.

Another one has been spotted!

Lutsk Airport, only fifty miles from the Polish border, apparently struck by Russian missiles.

Alleged footage of a short range Eleron UAV captured by Ukrainian forces.

Russian SPG firing laser guided rounds at targets near Kyiv reportedly.

Thanks for the info.
I think the artillery firing is from yesterday? At least I seems to have seen something similar yesterday?

Yeah it's older. Basically posted it as War Porn since it wasn't really "news" per se. But I thought it was interesting showing Russian artillery people doing work and pointing out they have/are using laser guided shells.

Rumors that Belarus will join in the Invasion of Ukraine later today.

Lukashenko and others threatened such earlier but backed off on the threats for various rumored and lol worthy reasons.

A third Russian General has died in the Invasion. Three of twenty senior officers deployed for this military operation supposedly.

The massive convoy has already reportedly dispersed and the reason is suspected to be due to the ground freezing for the next few days.

Ukraine is reportedly offering cash rewards for Russian detectors with aircraft.

Russian State News Media is reporting it's actually Turkey who ilcoukd be planning on sending Syrian fighters, veterans of the Azeri-Armenian War specifically to fight in the Ukraine.

Hm... how much do Russian jet pilots make per year? If you've spent years training to become a jet pilot, then thrashing your career for $1,000,000 USD might not be such a bright idea, especially as the dollar is about to inflate substantially. You probably would not be allowed to put your skills to use again, maybe at best becoming a flight instructor. Also, if you have family, then defecting is almost certainly not an option.

If Putin actually does do something to Chernobyl and tries to blame it on Ukraine, he will be shitting all over the legacy of sacrifice of people from all over the USSR, who lost thier lives trying to contain and mitigate the radiation hazards after Reactor 4 went up.

$1700 a month around 2018 if this article is to be true for this poor guy at least.
