Just because someone is female with short hair and muscles != gay, is what I think is being said here.Wait, really? How so?
The bending three elements as a child was much yeah.

Many a female powerlifters, body builders, and just athletes in general have boyfriends some even have *Gasp* husbands.
Who taught her that? Every avatar had to relearn bending the elememts. But not Korra, oh no, she's special. So special that future avatars need only HER advice while past avatars are old and outdated and she knows better anyway.Eh, it's the avatar, I don't have much of a problem with it. It was compensated by not being able to learn air, and from a Doylist POV, they already had an avatar learn all 4 elements, so they didn't want to repeat that part of the story.
Whoever the next avatar will be, they will curse Korra quite a lot. The Spirits rampaging across the world, the avatar has no collected mass of training and knowledge to fall back on, and the Earth Kingdom is poised for a new Hitler to take over as people get more and more pissed at their nation getting exploited by foreigners and their politicans selling then out.
Two parts to this: as a toddler she could 'bend' the elements, just without any control. Then she was taught by the White Lotus for years.Who taught her that? There was already a system in place to find the avatar. It involved showing toys and artifacts that a former avatar owned to potential avatars. There was something other than "durr, me avatar! me throw puny elements around!" It was a retcon. Two parts to this: as a toddler she could 'bend' the elements, just without any control. If Aang didn't have to find trainers, I'd expect a similar result from him.
Sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't the only way they were found though. I mean, searching the entire world with only one set of toys? Sometimes the person will bend before this completes. Also, Aang was super airbendy in personality, while Korra was more fluid. I could see that having an effect. There was already a system in place to find the avatar. It involved showing toys and artifacts that a former avatar owned to potential avatars. If you want to criticize the character for leaving the spirit portals open, sure, go ahead, that's a legitimate point to criticize her over (although I'm not seeing much of a "rampage" three years later, if anything the spirits are really standoffish). As for the Earth Kingdom turning to "a new Hitler", given Kuvira had to throw dissidents into camps (not just foreigners) her Earth Empire isn't necessarily going to be fondly remembered (especially when the comics showed the attempted restoration resorting to literal mind control technology). Nor am I sure what Korra could've done differently given Kuvira was pretty dead-set on demanding everyone obey her and her personally given her abandonment and control freak issues.
Yeah, when you look at Korra each season basically takes apart an early 20th century revolutionary ideology. It started with the Equalists (Marxism), moved to the... insanity that was the 2nd season (Theocracy, which in the 20th century was dominated by Islamic Fundamentalisms, though frankly I think that season was probably the weakest), then it took on, well, Anarchism and finally Fascism. You know what it NEVER touched on? Classical Liberalism...Also, I'd put forward that other than having Bisexual characters, Korra isn't woke, though it is definitely political. It condemned extremism of multiple forms: Communism, Anarchism, Fascism, and Theocracy. I mean the very first season was: Some people are inherently more talented than others, and even if this is inheritable, that isn't a valid reason to hate them. Wow. Such woke. Much progressive.
What's really funny is when a communist endorses Korra, who explicitly stomped out a communist revolution and stopped an anarchist attempt as well.
Classical Liberalism...
For now. You can bet your ass the moment the avatar dies, they will exert their will over the puny humans like they used to in the days before the first avatar dragged them back to the shithole they crawled out of. The spirits are invaders from another world. They have demonstrated their contempt for humans repeatenly, and they are not to be trusted. If you want to criticize the character for leaving the spirit portals open, sure, go ahead, that's a legitimate point to criticize her over (although I'm not seeing much of a "rampage" three years later, if anything the spirits are really standoffish).
Canon it might be, but it only was made so because the writers couldn't find a way to put Korra in the right. Let's not ignore how Kuvira was the one who stepped up and said "The prince is weak and refuses to protect the people!", and then worked to do something about it. The prince is a hedonistic shit who upon ascending to the throne declared the Earth Kingdom to be a republic and then ran off. The daughter of Toph, who had a claim to help, instead decided to go "screq the outsiders", and stayed the same little shit she was in her teenager years. She was the one who caused Toph to retire and the current chief troubles. As for the Earth Kingdom turning to "a new Hitler", given Kuvira had to throw dissidents into camps (not just foreigners) her Earth Empire isn't necessarily going to be fondly remembered (especially when the comics showed the attempted restoration resorting to literal mind control technology).
And the retcon about the avatar being powered by a symbiote is shit.
No, it did. That was Republic City, just sorta constantly there as the good guys. Occasionally corrupt, and not always the greatest, but better than all the others. You know what it NEVER touched on? Classical Liberalism
