So it's been a few weeks at least since they released a new Call of Duty game, so it's time for another re-skinned cash grab! I wonder what kind of tepid, in-no-way-offensive-to-China wokeshit they'll pump out this ti—wait.
Wait.
What's this?
A game situated in the Cold War, where the trailer is Yuri Bezmenov talking about Communists working to subvert, demoralize, and destroy America? "Know your history or be doomed to repeat it?"
Now on the one hand, this is a modern AAA-entertainment product, so there's a chance that this is a headfake and the twist will be you discovering that communist subversion is actually being done by a cabal of evil neofascist Christians and you, as one of MLK's secret illegitimate daughters, must foil the dastardly plot (see the actual twist in the show
Rubicon... actually, don't). And, sure, they're trundling back to the "Russians as bad guys" well again, but the trailer coming out during an actual IRL communist demoralization/subversion campaign is pretty fantastic. Comment section (almost certain to be scrubbed at some point) is soul-nourishing:
Everyone is focused on the gameplay but I looked into yuri and now more interested in the politics
When you get redpilled by a game
You sure this isn’t a trailer for next month of 2020?
This is going to open a lot of younger eyes, they will look around in 2020 and realize what's happening.
Well played, CoD.
This trailer holds a lot of weight in today’s America.
And my favorite sentiment:
It's not a game it's a training simulator. Gear up boys.
I'm almost afraid to be excited for this game.
